There are 2 things you need to do to spot fakes:
1. Handle lots of real watches. Go to the AD or a grey jeweler and try them on. Winding them is a giveaway but most places aren’t going to allow you to do this unless you’re buying it. 2. Keep looking at photos of real watches and pay attention to all of the small details.

Take the watch to a dealer and have them check it out. If you’re just looking, then you’re buying the dealer.

Send it to RSC. They’ll authenticate it for you.

Watch some vids on you tube and/or websites. Plenty of how to spot a fake sub etc. Then look at the fakes in the WatchOut section on here.

Buying from a reputable seller is one of the “checks”.

Not only that, once they know it’s genuine, they automatically check if it has been reported as stolen... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

If you are looking for specific tells (specific issues seen), we are not really supposed to discuss those. That is why you have not received any inputs for "particular points" to look for.

I recently sold a watch and the buyer requested to have the AD validate it. What a waste of time lol. The kid that looked at it i don’t believe had any idea what he was looking for. He didn’t once look at the papers or rehaut. It was very strange. He said looks great to me!
No checking of the bracelet, comparing serial numbers, he didn’t even unwind the crown. If i was in a position to need something authenticated it wouldn’t be an AD. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
