I will be using it locally. I don't travel much. Every now and then I go to Boston. I won't be putting many miles on it, that's for sure. I am leaning more to the 14, but I got time.

Have you considered a F150 or Silverado? Ford and Chevy have been building full size pickups for far longer than Toyota. Call me old fashioned, but I refuse to buy a foreign name plate. I know Toyota has a legion of loyal owners. I will never be one of them though. But to each his own.

I have considered those and do like the King Ranch and Lariat.
Not a fan of Chevy.

Toyota Tundra
The Tundra is built in Texas. It’s has more US made parts and labor in it than F150 and Silverado. I get the name plate thing...but it’s the most American made...I get the American made thing. My brother in law does a lot of business with union businesses...he’d never drive a Toyota to a job site.

I love my f150 lariat with the eco boost v6. I like the tundra also but terrible gas mileage.

I’m a Tundra fan. 2017 Limited without TRD. Didn’t like the wheels and TRD badging. Added a rear sway bar, tinted the windows, and am in the process of adding the OEM Audio plus JBL enhancement kit along with dynamat in the entire cab, and an iPhone mirroring kit. You won’t be disappointed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Ultimately Toyota is still a Japanese company and the money goes there. Yes, I understand they are made on USA soil and have some USA parts, but to each his own. Ford or Chevy for myself depending on the style and aesthetics of the truck. I have a 2004 Chevy Blazer that is still kickin' it after 15 years.

I have a bronze 1794 and you couldn’t pry it from my cold dead hands. The local dealer calls me every few months trying to buy it from me I suppose because they retain their value so well. I don’t drive a lot of miles during the week because I work from home but I’ve been really surprised that the family actually prefers it over my wife’s van for long road trips. It’s towed a trailer to PA and TX. Zero issues. I looked at all the others and there are a lot of nice trucks out there but the Toyota’s simplicity appealed to me. Buttons and knobs and not so electronic dashboard focused. I also had older Tundras in the past so I had a baseline comfort level with them.

Toyota may be owned by the Japanese...however they invest more in the US than Ford and GM combined...the money stays here plus more. GM is laying people off...Toyota is adding jobs. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

Toyota is adding jobs...GM and Ford are cutting jobs and closing factories. I am biased as I run a Toyota Dealer...and I love Ford as a company with the amazing history that goes with it. But facts are facts.

Toyota Tundra
Not to beat a dead horse here...compare the number of US Toyota employees compared to Ford US employees and GM US employees.
Toyota is adding US jobs annually and investing in the US economy. Ford and GM the opposite. I drive a VW by the way! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

Sad to hear. My family’s take is for me to just lease. They feel if at the end of the lease I like it just buy it.

That’s what I did with the F150 I have. The dealership has been great. Giving me a loaner so I can get back and forth to work. One problem isn’t just with my vehicle. It’s happening to others as well.

I was T boned on the driver side in September and the was the end of driving in a car for me. I walked away unscathed, but was very fortunate for me and that my family wasn’t with me at the time. I was hit buy a Tunda. Literally the grill was right next to my head. If the driver had hit me another foot up towards the driver side I definitely would of suffered a head injury.

There’s nothing wrong with that strategy at all. It’s essentially purchasing an option to buy. It works best with vehicles with low money factors. Not really needed on a Toyota but if you’re in an accident you’ll be happy to have the option even though you enjoyed the vehicle.

Decent option. The Tundra will be worth more than the residual value at the end of the lease for sure. Def not a bad move. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

Toyota all day every day. They’re reliable and hold their value very well. The V8s that Toyota uses are gas guzzlers, but it’s a small price to pay for all of the other upsides imo.

Thank you to all who had some influence in my decision making. I ended up going with the 2008 Tundra and man am I happy. Such a great truck. Very powerful. I’ll share some pics when I have some free time.
