Basel

For the first time since I’ve learned of this show, Ive no real interest.

Sure, I’m excited. I too want to see what’s coming out. It’s an exciting time for the watch nerd community. But I genuinely can’t imagine anything really doing it for me.

Just to be safe, Ive already spoken to my buddy and if anything sexy from Rolex comes out, I’ll be asking to get on the list.

But based on everything I know, I just don’t think I’ll want anything. I might very well be wrong. But I hope it all stays this way.

It’s a curious position to be in. And I say all this knowing full well I might have to eat my words in two days.

Anyone else in a similar place?

I’m really really hoping nothing that comes out catches my eye. I’ve already made a few big watch purchases in the last few months and I’ve promised myself to put the foot on the breaks for a little bit while I focus on some other major projects. But man... if something awesome comes out... what do I do??

I’m immune to this year’s Basel!

There’s only one piece on my wish list at the moment, it’s not new and it’s not made by Rolex.

I'm interested but not expecting anything to pull focus away from what I already have. Constantly buying the latest stuff isn't improving my life.

Heck, I just added a couple G-Shock models to my collection and have been enjoying the hell out of them. Never expected that.

As far as Rolex goes I have much less interest than in the past. There are many other nice watches than Rolex.

Same - I imagine that there's going to be something that strikes my interest that comes out. Problem is that it won't be attainable.

The lack of availability of desirable Rolex models is creating a lack of genuine interest on my part. Sure as a watch aficionado I'll like and appreciate it but I won't see it as an attainable item.

There needs to be a better way... There should be some way of putting a deposit down and reserving an allocation spot either from an AD or directly from Rolex.

The new version of the Breitling Navitimer 806 looks pretty nice. It's the only watch I've seen so far that Id' consider.

I honestly lost all interest the day I retired.

I have my deepsea and that’s all I need with my Apple Watch.

Don’t care. Don’t even know when it starts. Zero interest in Rolex. I already have what I want.

Although I agree Seth. Worst Basel as far as I can remember and I’m not usually that guy boo booing all the new releases.

To be honest, as far as Rolex are concerned, it seems that any new releases will only be seen by the "normal" person in pictures until about a year or 18 months after first seen in Basel. Looking at photos are nice but doesn't send my excitement level to the top of the scale.

It's about as close to the original as possible, 41mm with an in house manual wind movement in a limited edition of 1,959. Price is $8,600.

Not excited here. I guess I'm too old for this game because my needs are very specific. First of all they must offer the adjustable clasp to a broader audience otherwise I won't get a new watch. Then there's the fact that I get tired of any color in a sports watch other than black, I need them to be 40mm max, so when I think about it unless they bring back a 40mm Sea Dweller one day, hopefully with a glossy dial, I'm all set with my team.

Yeah me neither.

And knowing me, I’ll get caught up in the excitement.

Lmao.

What a shock. Create something awesome that a lot of people will want, and limit the production

Seems to be today’s theme. Breitlimg might as well get with the program

I suspect many WIS will share the same sentiment. I understand waiting a few months for a watch, but you’re pushing it when you ask people to wait a year or more. It goes from exciting to frustrating. Especially when Rolex is making people wait for watches that have been around for years (like the LV sub).

what is so hard about this tudor? simply change the crown, the bezel teeth and the text and you got a killer mass produced watch. why is this so fricking hard?

It shouldn't be that hard to get your hands on this watch as you may think. It'll be available at both ADs and boutiques. I could easily see them releasing a more production friendly version in the future.

Right now I'm happy with my collection, and I need to focus on other things than buying watches. So for me it's just more of a "let's see what they are bringing out."

I want to see the OP lineup with the new movement. Otherwise I'm only interested in getting a BLRO, no waiting list for me but I'm not comfortable with spending that dough just yet.

I would buy that in a heart beat. Maybe you should join the Tudor design team

A smaller Tudor Ranger would certainly pique my interest.
