Celebrating the 116710LN
With all the buzz on the Batman moving from the oyster to Jubille bracelet, let us not forget that Rolex has now retired the 1st ever stainless steel Rolex model to sport the ceramic bezel. The watch 116710LN was introduced at Baselworld 12 years ago. The popularity of Cerachrom bezels spread to the Sub, yacht master, bicolor GMTii and finally, the Daytona. For Rolex, it (ceramic bezel) all started with the GMT and for SS models, the 116710LN (no nickname).

Hopefully not retirement but a hiatus. Wouldn’t it be nice to have the LN return with the new movement. And all three varieties available with the jubilee or oyster bracelet similar to the DateJust 41.

It was my first Rolex, and I think it's the best model the make (made?). I own a few more now, but it would be difficult to convince me that it isn't the best all in one Rolex on the market.

we will see it back in 5-10 years. Most likely with a red hand and new movement.

I love my LN. It was the second Rolex I bought, but definitely gets more wrist time than my Sub. Its an icon, and the black is very understated which works well for daily wear.

I bet we see it next year on the jubilee. I have a hard time seeing them without a GMT LN in the lineup for a while. It's a staple piece.

I guess the 116710LN still needs a nickname right? Any ideas or suggestions? Or is it not epic enough yet?

I think that it's a great looking watch, myself, and I find it a little confusing that it has been discontinued.
It is after all the easiest of the ceramic bezels to produce. If Rolex is making these changes to further distinguish the GMTs from the Subs, I guess it is possible that it won't return, but I somehow think that it will.

Here's my constant companion hanging out with his older brother. Can't imagine the LN will be gone forever - suspect it will return with the updated movement and on jubilee.

So long my friend. I’ve had two of them over the years. It was awesome, but never stayed...always got sellers remorse and looked for it again. Lol
Now looking forward to it’s re-release on a jubilee. Maybe it will stay this time around. |

This has SD4000 written all over it.
The 116710LN has consistently been just about the only SS Professional model that has been available on the secondary market for less than list. Why? because everybody wanted the BLNR and then the BLRO - it just wasn't as popular and that's a fact! Now its been discontinued, all of a sudden everyone wants one & prices on the used market are starting to sky rocket. SD4000 all over again...

My first Rolex too, but long gone when the BLNR came in. Loved the green touches.

Mine on its current Everest strap w Explorer clasp. Original bracelet is at Archer's in Toronto getting the PCLs brushed back to a tolerable state (read: getting the chrome sent to hell!).
