A bit of help please

Hello I’m new to this site. Basically what brings me here is my grandad passed away a couple of months ago and he had quite a few watches that he left me. There was a couple of Raymond weil and a few other makes of watch but there was one Rolex Oyster Perpetual date. I know nothing about watches so thought I’d ask you lot what you think before I go and embarrass myself at the watch shop I’ll attach a few pics of the watch below. Any info/knowledge would be great. So thanks In advance

That’s a Yacht-Master, reference number 116622 with Rhodium Dial. It looks to be on an acquired Oysterflex strap since this watch originally came on a bracelet with polished center links. What else do you want to know?

If you have any authentication questions, find a local Authorized Dealer (AD) and have them check it out.

Haha I literally acquired 11 or 12 watches. I’ve just had a baby with my fiancé so was going through what I had in the box so just thought I’d find a forum with people that know Rolex’s to see what people thought if it was a copy or not. From what I’ve been looking at there seems to be abit too much detail to be a copy or it’s a high end copy

I am sorry, but this is not a real yachtmaster. There is a lot more, but crown on dial is wrong. Numbers on the insert are off. It's a fake.

It looks pretty fake to me. I see several problems with it. Engraving quality, date font and coronet on the clasp. Dial just doesn’t look right. Bezel as well.

These watches were very popular as a replica. I would take it to a rolex dealer and pay for a certification of authenticity. I would also send it in for a service if it is real.

Really no need to do that. It's just not real.

Example: look at the 30 of the insert. It's straight. On the real yachtmaster it curves.

F serial relates to a 2004 watch which this model is definitely not. This is a fake watch..

The inner steel ring around the dial under the glass. The piece where you see Rolex Rolex Rolex going all the way around.

Also this rhodium YM never had the serial engraved between the lugs ever!

That alone says this watch is not real.

It's the chapter ring between the dial and the crystal. On modern models it is engraved with ROLEX ROLEX ROLEX and the serial number. However, as pointed out, a 7 digit serial numbet starting with F would date the case around 2003 to 2005 and would pre-date when the practice on engraving the rehaut began. It is a inconsistancy that likely point toward a fake. Sorry.

Hopefully your grandfathet left you something nice in that box that you can wear and remember him.
