BTW - excellent Cartier purchase!
that would be really petty

and the AD is not hurting for business as they sell everything that Rolex sends their way

I do wonder how this Rolex situation will pan-out long-term.

I'm part of a younger watch enthusiast group in a major metropolitan city in US (~20 members) and the general consensus is that the frustrating Rolex buying experience is turning off even younger enthusiasts. At a recent G2G, there were a few Rolex watches, but noticed a handful of various Speedys, two Cartier Tanks, handful of Tudor's (new and old), and one Patek 3940.

If this process is pushing younger enthusiasts elsewhere, I'm sure it's impacting the non-enthusiast "one-watch" buyer even more. No easy solution, but these ADs "games" seem sighted. Will they become a victim of their own success?

Way too much demand for Rolex to have any effect whatsoever. But maybe it'll help other brands like Tudor or something become more wanted.

I like that Santos and will probably buy one if they made it in medium with no date.

However I did purchase a M278289RBR-0008 (DateJust 31), 279383RBR (Lady-Date-Just 28) and 50529-007 (Cellini Dual Time).
Stick with them and you wont be disappointed!
I think he's doing the opposite of that, not everyone is ok to adhere to demands made by the AD.

They have their own boutiques with literally, literally zero product. To make things worse they basically tell you that they can't get you product. I know people will say their sales are through the roof, and maybe they are, but I don't care what people say this isn't good for the brand.

That Santos looks great on rubber. The more and more I wait and play the game the more and more it seems it pushes the actual enthusiasts that want the watches to either go grey or to the store down the street. To me it doesn't seem like the greatest business moto. But they know better than me lol

It was my understanding that Rolex did not own any stores at this time, but were considering creating a handful of actual Rolex-owned boutiques in the near future. Are you saying this has already happened or was the "boutique" simply another AD?

Not sure who owns it, but only Rolex is sold there.

I did a quick run thru Vegas today...
Bellagio... MAYBE 10 pieces total... two of which are beautiful Cellini and the rest <34mm lady's.

Tourneau... one Cellini and maybe 6-7 lady's. great conversation with the lead saying that Rolex is shipping gangbusters, but pieces are being allocated as fast as they are coming in. also, he told me that he personally axed at least 9 regular volume buyers that were caught flipping.

forum shops AD... nothing to talk about.

I didn't make it to WoS or the Crystals ad... though I had been at crystals/city center and they had maybe 5 lady's in the whole store.

Yeah, probably something like this I'm guessing: https://www.rolex.com/rolex-dealers/...tedstates.html

I couldn't imagine an actual Rolex-owned store making statements along the lines of "you would never get a sports watch as a new customer without buying other less desirable pieces". True or not, that would be a very bad look for an official Rolex entity to put out.
