Don't buy Rolex for investment, but still gotta ask....
Realize most do not recommend choosing based on current or future value, but still....
Of the watches below, which is the best guesstimate as to its value increase over the next few years? 124300 - OP41 new model (blue or green face) 116400GV - Milgauss Z Blue 116613LB - Bluesy supercase 126333 - DateJust 41 two tone This may help the current decision. Thanks |

But honestly, they will essentially keep their value.
The only two "professional" watches are the quite underwhelmed Milgauss, too confidential to rise in my opinion - and the two-tone 116613 which.. is a two-tone. They will not rise like 16610LV or 116600 SD4k. But they make really good daily wearers, especially (my taste) 116613LB.

Milgauss, or any watch for the matter, is simply one tiktok star push from popularity.

15 years ago a Milgauss GV was $15k grey. That was when retail was way lower too. Every dog has its day!

And my crystal ball says “who the heck knows, have no idea, but not into any of those four, so doesn’t matter.”
Just buy the watch you like the most. It’s really the only thing that matters. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Aware that no one knows the future.
I bought my 114060 Sub, and for some reason it is now going for way more than I paid for it four years ago. This fact helps me justify acquiring a 3rd watch. Its a mental thing I assume.... Guess that's why I was asking. |

Buy what you like, and wear it. If it goes up in value, great, if it doesn't, so be it. Traditional investment may be less sexy than 50% increases in some hot Rolex models, but diversity is still king.
Gamble your money on watches if you like, but don't call it investment. |

People are mixing INVESTMENT with VALUE RETENTION
You go ahead and buy a GV for, say, $10k If you ever want to sell it, you'll be right around that, for sure. If it's 20 years and you sell it for 13 or 15, factoring in inflation, there are much better avenues to grow your $$$, as watches are not it. |

I think the OPs are going to tank spectacularly once people wise up. These are barely worth MSRP but people are wildly delusion and paying 3x retail. They are as basic a time only watch as it comes. If you buy this for grey market pricing you will get hammered in a few years if you sell it.
The DJ should hold on to its value but should not be something that grows in value over time, outside of maybe inflation. Look at all of the older DJs on the market, they have been relatively flat over time. At MSRP, they are all fine. The days of losing a few thousand bucks if you don’t like something are over, and i doubt they return anytime soon. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

With the exception of a few bedazzled women's Rolexes, most, if not all, Rolexes will at least retain ~75% value imo. A lot of SS and more popular/classic models will probably go up.
Just don't buy in the hype and get what you want. |

But no one can predict the future. So they can just as easily go down in value one day. What then…

I like the other watches better but people won't wise up on OP41. Although the watch doesn't have the best specs, as long as Rolex limits the supply of OP41s the green one is the better longer term investment. The value is in its rarity. |

Well if people continue thinking OPs are rare then yes, it will continue holding an absurd value. Rare would mean they somehow are limiting production of their least expensive watch, which they are not. There is a difference between not being able to get something because they are popular ( new iPhones) and something being rare ( 5514s). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Take this with the grain of salt that my home buying has never been buy low sell high…..but I think if the OP colors are changed in a few years those will hold the most value. Turquoise, candy pink, coral, etc. A bit like the Hulk. Ok now let me get back to seeing how my Dogecoing is doing

Even the previous generation of OPs went up and they (along with the previous generation datejust) had a boxy case which didn't look so good either. The current OP, with the updated lugs, is too much bang for buck with a case identical to a DJ. If anything the current DJ is a bit too expensive. And a time only watch? What does a submariner have to offer then? Yeah a submariner date has a date function, so what? Is that more valuable? Impressive. People are going crazy about a sub. It's still a regular submariner. |

Rare means its scarce, be it organic over time or a new item that isnt produced to meet demand. Outside of the big 3, the OP41s are the most rare at an AD. You could even argue GMTs and Subs are more common than fancy OP41s. |

I wouldn't pay anything above retail for an OP of any color. All OPs of the same size have the same reference number. Rolex has been known to allow dial changes for a fee on watches older than 3-5 years old during regular service if the dial was available on your reference number. If the new dial you want comes w/ different hands, you'll need to buy new hands as well. You can search old threads and confirm this info.
The intrinsic value of a new OP of any color is MSRP. Grey values of turquoise dial OPs will crash to MSRP in 3-5 years when these watches start going in for service and customers start requesting dial changes. |

Awful thread , sorry. Don’t buy a Rolex if you can’t truly afford it and are only concerned about future value in the event you may need to sell it to get your money back.

Are the sunburst blue OP41s much more common than the greens? Really wish the green had been a sunburst dial.....
Regarding the Milgauss, with the polar white being discontinued for a while now, would it potentially be more valuable then the Z blue or the OP41s in the long run? |
