5235R…thoughts?

I’m highly considering this timepiece for my next watch. I really enjoy the uniqueness of this reference amongst the Patek catalogue, with the regulator dial and 31-260 micro rotor caliber, along with the Advanced Research Silinvar components of the balance and escapement.

I’m curious what other collectors think about this reference. Not to the point of whether I should buy it or not (I’m fairly sure I will), but just your opinions about the design, styling, complication, etc. It seems to be a fairly polarizing timepiece amongst Patek Philippe aficionados. And although there are a few posts/threads mentioning this reference, I wanted to revisit the topic. TIA!

If you have seen it in person, it is a beautiful watch!

I haven’t seen it in person yet.

But everything else I’ve seen/read about it, I really like!

I have one and it’s just a fantastic piece! It is more on the dressier side but I enjoy looking at the brushed slate dial! Love the way it changes tones in the sunlight from black to gray. It’s a fabulous piece!

The rose gold regulator is a cool watch and the only Patek AC I find interesting but probably not enough to pull the trigger myself.

I own this watch. Its a collector and unique piece.
Grab one if can. Plus you can always change strap in order to stand out. I switch mine between white and orange.

White & Orange! That’s sounds pretty cool! Do you have any pictures with those strap combinations?

Where do you go to get straps? AD or Camille Fournet?

5235R is one of the most under-stated Patek in the collection. Its an unusual piece and is more for serious collectors and will have investment value over a long term basis.

I have one and I love it. Unique movement, unique beat rate, HACKING seconds, accurate, reliable. Go for it.

Not smitten by it. Find it a real pain to read the time - unnecessarily complicated.

Thank you for your opinion, and encouragement. All of the attributes you stated are reasons why I think I’m getting this one next!

I’m thinking this is well. It’s the most unique Patek timepiece under $100k, in my opinion.

I really enjoy this watch and it keeps growing on me over time. It is in my opinion a dressier watch although i have also worn it in semi-casual circumstances, e.g. a nice breakfast or dinner. It also doesn't scream look at me as much as one would think. I've only had comments from the occasional person who knows what it is.

Go go go

I bought the WG version a couple of months ago and I LOVE it!!! I am also considering changing the strap and would like any input on that as well. Pictures, suggestions, etc. I would like to dress the watch a bit down and are considering a two piece canvas or perhaps even denim.

This timepiece is very unique design, it's growing on me. As far as for reading the time, after you get used to it, it isn't any harder to read than the typical watch at all.

It reminds me of the old long case regulators upon which, presumably, it is based.

5235R and 5170P are aesthetically 2 of my favorite Pateks. Both are just gorgeous references and appeal to my sense of symmetry.

I tried it on recently and it’s still nagging at me.. Love the design, those lugs and the clasp are retro classics. The movement is special.
If you have the funds go for it..
