Weishi 1900 2 pin plug

ordered a Weishi 1900, just realised it comes with a 2 pin 🔌 plug…..I’m in the UK, anyone any idea if this will still work in the UK if I attach the 2 pin plug to a 3 pin plug adaptor?……..it’ll save me sending it back or having to order another one.

Any help appreciated

The voltage requirement from the spec is 100/240 AC so a standard international adapter should be fine.

Do you have a pix of the plug?

Where did the item come from?

If it hasn't already been dispatched ask them to change it.

Weishi 1900 2 pin plug

It’s coming from Amazon and is due for delivery today, so sort of stuck with delivery today….here’s the adaptor that comes with it, and was just going to use the 2 pin plug adaptor in the pic to attach it to…

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Would this work?……if this is bad idea no probs at all I can send it all back for a refund….I now know where I can get a Weishi 1900 with a UK 3 pin plug….if this would work it’ll save sending it back etc

Your more permanent option is to take it a sparkie and get them to change the plug.

Would you void any warranty if you modify a plug?

The transformer is not polarity sensitive and can be plugged into the adaptor either way.

Use the standard adaptor Dennis.

Good point, it would certainly void the warranty Eddie…… I’m quite happy to go with the standard adaptor set up that you’ve mentioned

That is a shaver adapter, not a standard electronics EU/UK plug adaptor.

They are a similar shape but different dimensions; and are fitted with 1A fuses which is rated lower than most electronics plugs we use - which is why it says for shavers only on it.

You want a travel adaptor.

Quote:
You can see the pins are thicker and parallel on the shaver/toothbrush plug on the left, so forcing the thinner and non parallel EU plug in will result in an unsecure connection which can cause arcing, which can cause a really bad time for everyone in the house

You could also just order a generic UK plug, cut the EU one off and attach the UK one?

That's what I do. Pretty much every professional watchmaking tool comes with an EU plug attached. Rewiring takes five minutes.

I was always taught adapters are temporary solutions. If used long term it's just another thing that can fail (or catch fire )

It will be fine with the normal 3 pin 13Amp UK plug adapter to a 2 pin

These are used for Shavers and travel for Europeans to the UK.

I also have the Weishi 1900

Yes it will work I was in Spain some years ago & the reverse happened my phone charger was a three pin plug & the socket was two pin so I just bought a two pin adapter & had no trouble using it whatsoever

Mine came two weeks ago. They actually offered with three options for the plug. I chose Australian. All the same just a different end. Hense my suggestion to just swap.

Interesting link.

Could almost make you believe that he earth pin on Dennis's UK plug was connected.

I did note that the original two pin plug Dennis posted also showed the insulation on the pins to prevent contact while connecting it to the outlet.
