Why no love for the explorer 2 42mm

Just curious why there’s no love for that watch. Haven’t seen it in person but hey 42mm watch Ss Rolex makes a whole lot of sense.

what do you mean no love?

It's a very popular watch, and there's waiting lists on it at AD's....sounds pretty popular to me.

Just because it's not as hot as a Daytona doesn't mean it isn't popular.

I really like the polar explorer 2, but they are simply too big. If they had the sized unchanged like the previous version 40mm, 12mm thick, I would be all over it.

I love the exp2. Just haven’t had a chance to buy one...if that watch is too thick then what is the deep sea lol...it doesn’t have much fanfare because it’s easier to acquire...it’s a gmt with stationary bezel

That model was high up on my list but always gets bumped for something else. In recent years it got displaced by an AK and now a DJ41. Yes it’s a Rolex but not sure I’d love it enough to keep forever. Would hate to get one and then become the first Rolex I ever flip!!

I like the watch but I wish they would have kept it at 40mm.

I think the love has been increasing since everything else can’t be had

Or maybe people just realized what a cool watch it is.

I tried one on the other day, and i feel it fits me too big

So hopefully at Basel they bring it down in size and keep the metal bezel!

The orange on the dial is a deal breaker for me. Now the 16570 is a totally different animal. I like that watch a lot. In fact, I've been wearing mine for the last few days.

It’s not unpopular but it’s also not at the top of the popularity chain either. Id say it’s very underrated and often forgotten, but it’s a fantastic piece. I’d have one in my collection of my wrists were 7”+.

It seems it's more loved now then ever. I finally bought mine a year ago and my AD has only had one in stock since. (as of last week) Its 42mm but with its slender lugs and smaller twin lock crown the proportions may surprise you as it did me when I finally tried one on for size.

All the 40mm watches are just too small for my frame (6’4”/240) and wrist size (7.5”). The DJ41 is dressier than I want and the DSSD is just way too big for a daily wearer. I get it that its too big for some. Trust me, I wish a Sub or GMT worked for me but they just don’t. For those of us who need a bigger watch, its a welcome addition.

So its either the Explorer 2 or the Sea Dweller. Tried both on and while the SD43 is stunning, its quite a bit heavier and would be a lot of watch to wear every day. The Explorer 2 felt perfect and I do value the GMT functionality. Throw in the fact that the price is well under 1/2 of the SD43 on the open market and I’m sold.

I have more or less settled on the black face but both are great. What has surprised me the most though is how versatile it is. I don’t think I would ever take the SD43 off the bracelet just because it needs the balance but the Explorer 2 is a veritable strap monster. These are all pics I found online, not my watch but you get the point.

I like it a lot but the orange funky looking GMT hand makes it a no choice for me! I love the 42mm (I have large wrists) but the orange hand makes it look kinda childish to me!

Have seen at least one person just remove the GMT hand. Think its in the Show Me Your Mods thread.

After parting with my deposit I can assure you the past 2 of my estimated 3-4 week wait has just flown by... 1st SS Rolex for me. I have two TT.

Blasphemy!

Never wear my sub anymore, feels too small and boring. The orange against the white with hints of black around the lume makes this one of my favourite most interesting models in the SS professional line. Everything else is too ubiquitous. And 42mm fits me much nicer than 40, also creates quite a bit more presence on the wrist

I would say there is a lot of love in TRF for the Explorer II. It doesn’t carry hype like some of the other SS models, but it’s a great watch that many of us would be proud to own.

The 5-digit Explorer II is much nicer IMO.
