Journey to the Tudor BB GMT

I’ll start by saying that I’ve never had any desire to own a Rolex GMT. I was quite happy with my SubC.

One day while surfing, I came across an article on HODINKEE on the Timex Q. After doing a little research, I thought it would be a fun inexpensive watch to have around. Once I received it, I was surprised how nice it looked in the metal. When I started wearing it, I really started to like the watch. I loved the size, the band and the overall retro feel of watch. I also like the colors — the muted red/blue bezel and how it complemented the matte blue dial. I became a fan of a Pepsi watch.

I had seen the BB GMTs around online but they never piqued my interest. However, the Timex Q changed all that. I realized that many of the facets that I liked about the Timex Q was also in the BB GMT — the retro styling and the muted colors. Doing some additional research, I was impressed with the value proposition but worried about the issues surrounding the BB GMT. After some reflection, I decided to source and acquire the watch.

Today, I am the proud owner of a Tudor BB GMT.

It's great! You will love it. I had no issues with the date change, and the Smarty EndLinks give a good look.

The aftermarket endlinks as shown in the photo come from:

http://www.smartyendlinks.com/

So the strap won't look like this:

I had zero interest in the BB GMT...and actually upon release thought it was pretty ugly. I already owned a BB 41 and Pelagos so did like Tudor. Then, late last year I saw a Watch Gecko article on the BB GMT with pix and video and "BAM" ...I fell in love with the piece. I was very fortunate to find a gentlemen who had just purchased but needed to offload and was able to buy at a great price. Enjoy your GMT!!

Well done! Absolutely love mine. Super accurate and been running flawlessly since new.
Mine on rivet and rally strap with SmartyJones end links.

Great watch. I like the retro looks and the fact it looks good on a leather strap and a NATO. Mine lives well with my Rolex Pepsi.

I love the BB GMT! I'm so stuck between getting one or saving for a 16710.

Gotta say, in most cases I prefer Rolex and the ceramic bezel, but for this one I prefer the Tudor's retro look by far.

I have both the Timex and the BB GMT - both are amazing watches (don't knock the Timex folks ... it's seriously great in person). I put a Nato strap on the Timex and have the steel bracelet for the Tudor.

BTW - what's the date issue w/ the Tudor GMT that you're talking about?

There have been multiple reports of sticking dates as well as dates advancing by 2 days. There's no way to know what % of watches have the issue. Many [most?] BB GMT owners, like myself, have had no issues whatsoever and are amazed by the flawless performance. Some have experienced the issue multiple times after sending in to RSC for repairs. Certainly frustrating for this who experience the issue.

Thanks ... I've never noticed that on mine, but will double check this week.
