A modern car serial-produced is not as big a loss to the automotive community as, say, a car Fangio won a race. Thanks for letting me clarify.

As a native Floridian who survived several hurricanes, with the 2 day warning that monster was going to make landfall along the central west coast, I'd have filled the passenger seat with irreplaceable "stuff" and headed to the panhandle or maybe Alabama.

Some folks have more money than brains.

Assuming it was insured, I cant see why not (unless there is a flood exemption in the policy). As mentioned by others, you can only drive one car at a time. Pack up your shiznit and get out with what you can.

Are these cars salvageable, fixable or are they scrapped afterwards.

Obviously theses supercars are a whole different category but can they be restored??
I would venture a guess that McLaren could probably repair it (from a capability perspective), although it might cost more than the original purchase price.

McLaren repaired Rowan Atkinson's F1, and that thing was in a state that I do not think any person would consider to be savable. But I believe it took a year or so to do it, and the repair bill was more than the car's original MSRP. (Mind you, the market value of a F1 at the point of the accident had gone up dramatically, so insurance went for a million dollar repair job).

So I think it probably can be repaired; I'm not sure if it will be repaired, however, given the circumstances here are a bit different.

Course brother. I knew what you meant. Just calling it common was funny.

But I would venture to say while vintage is impossible to replace, this car will be damn close to that.

Looks like the insurance payout wasn’t necessarily top of the guys concerns.

Just bought himself another, very sick and very limited McLaren Speedtail.

True that. How many original McLaren F1 cars have survived? Mr. Bean tried to kill one multiple times(!).

Maybe the owner had a choice between the McLaren and a suitcase or the Honda Odyssey full of gear and the family.

On all those CSI/cop shows they always stick a wet iPhone in a bag of rice and wait overnight and viola....

Maybe stick that McLaren in a really, really big bag of rice........ and you're 'fast and furious' in a week.

Just spitballin' here....

Maybe, in which case he made the right choice.

I’ve never been in a hurricane, but here on the other side of the country, we were hearing for days on the TV news that the hurricane was on its way. The owner had time enough to take a photo of the McLaren and the Rolls inside the garage, in what appears to be several feet of water. Did he evacuate?
