Its definitely a cobbled up watch.

My observations:

1) dial is likely later vs the case - i haven't bothered to check if the dial is legit so worth looking at it closer
2) bezel insert looks aftermarket
3) crown is later
4) looking at the caseback engraving, I don't love it either

wait for others to chime in. There are some red flags...

The fonts on the mid case engravings look odd to me, they're not like the comps.
And that dial has stabilizer varnish or whatever on the lume that spilled onto the dial.
That, and the notches which aren't right for a 5513, equals a hard pass on this one.

Case threading? 5513

It’s kinda scary to think someone is engraving that well if it’s not legit.

I think this is something that needs to be noted/looked into further

Let’s say the parts looked good/all correct… would the watch get a pass?

Interesting take! To me the engravings look pretty good on this, but I’m no professional and have not dealt with 5513’s in person before.

Would love to hear more opinions from everyone!

I looked at a few more 1968 casebacks and there are a few other variations out there... not a straight forward one, this watch.

All of the fonts used by Rolex are standard typesets from a certain manufacturer of pantograph engravers, they’re not difficult to find if you know where to look. IMO that mid case is a re-engraved 7928 mid case. The patina between the lugs is completely at odds with the rest of the case.
