Art Basel Miami

Has anyone gone to Art Basel Miami? Was it on your own or with an invitation from AP? If through AP, just curious to see what was the experience like?

I attended in 2019 on my own dime, but AP did get me entry passes and VIP passes to the Art Basel show. Even ran into Olivier Audemars!

The VIP area was 10ish luxury companies with booths, food, and bars. Last year they didn't do the on-site VIP area, they rented a house and hosted guests there, like a traveling AP House. I believe they are doing that again this year, not sure if they will have tickets available or not.

Between Art Basel, Art Miami, CONTEXT Art Miami, Aqua Art Miami, and Art Wynwood, it's an amazing week in Miami, highly recommend!

I'm planning on going back this year!

I live in Miami and have been many times but usually avoid it these days. Do you want to visit Miami when it’s packed more than usual with rich people trying to out do each other? If you aren’t a serious art lover who is willing to brave packed art showings the only reasons to go, IMO, is to mingle with one of the many new and old money folks at the various ancillary events.

Lol. Never thought of it that way. Thanks for the perspective. We are casual art collectors and thought it may make for a fun trip.

My interpretation of how the undercurrent and sharks circle the baitball of glitterati over the years at this series of events over the Art Miami Week.

But they are beautiful

I was there last year and had an incredible experience. Every major brand puts on an incredible exposé and the city is filled with beautiful art. If you appreciate art you will be blown away by the exhibits. A lot of them were also fun and cool to take photos besides.

Saint Laurent had a pop up gallery on the sand in south beach which was breathtaking, and unique.

Also worth noting, multiple brands were having parties every night and there was a ton of industry events going on. If you're looking for a fun trip, Art Basel is probably the best time to visit.

Great to go, just brace for bad traffic.

As with all international style events, the fun things are at the side parties. But the main hall is still worth an afternoon to explore.

Consider your free tickets as your discount on watches. lol.

We try and go every year. Events are often open to all especially in the Wynwood area. Don't find it to be particularly stuffy as the demographic of attendees is vast. Traffic in Miami is bad regardless so plan for that but certainly don't let it deter you.

Oh but the traffic across the bridge will make you think Southern California traffic is the autobahn! Worth the crazy hotel prices to stay south beach side IMHO unless you plan on visiting sites on mainland.

Agree, def worth it to pay more on a hotel and be over the bridge. Then you can walk to all the events

There is an Uber ferry during art Basel you can take to avoid the traffic if you don’t stay on the beach.

I've always wanted to go so won't miss it this year. I'm sure it's packed but the people watching in Miami is never dull. Would appreciate any and all tips.

I’ve been to the AP events at Art Basel Miami. The hospitality room is nice with usually a mini museum and the new pieces on display, as well as a watch maker station. A good spot to get away from the crowds in the main hall. I’ve also been to their art installation invite only events on the beach. Fun night, good drinks.

Anyone else get the VIP party invite for 12/1? I got the invite today and both Francois and Ginny will be there.

Do you guys know if the invitation for only yourself, or is there a plus one? It was not clear in the email.
