I've worn a "nightguard", as they call it, on my upper teeth for about 40 years when I sleep. That's about as far as my treatment has gone. I can really wear those things out! I'd break my teeth for sure without it.

I have it and have lived with it for years But never had treatment because i don't want surgery. It stops me from eating a few things like bagels or Something else you have to choose for a long time.

Best treatment for TMJ/TMD is a Night-guard made by your dentist. Most TMJ/TMD issues arise from grinding or clenching, which is usually worse at night.

Night-guards are fairly inexpensive and will go a long way towards protecting your teeth, as well as helping with a host of other issues caused by grinding like headaches, tension, jaw and neck pain.

Been wearing a night guard for about 20 years after my dentist advised it. He said that I would wear my teeth to nubs because of all the grinding of teeth I do in my sleep.

The daily jaw pain has altogether stopped and I couldn't imagine sleeping without one.

My wife use to wear those nighttime mouth guards. It worked. Thankfully she doesn't need it anymore. Protect your teeth and know it may come and go with stress and life.

I can tell you when this doesn't seem true. I paid about $350 for a new one and inadvertently left it on my nightstand about the first week I had it. That turned into the most expensive dog chew toy I have ever purchased!! They don't seem inexpensive when you buy two in a week
