James Cameron Thickness
Hey all,
Close to a decision on a 126660 D Blue DSSD. Wrist is 7.5-8.0in, flat. 44mm doesn’t bother me as my current collection ranges from 42-46mm. That said, the continuous posts/relies about the thickness of the deepsea has me worrying as I haven’t seen it in the flesh nor tried it on. That said, I’m a big guy with big wrists and think I could pull it off regardless Can you all show some pics from a distance that put the thickness in perspective?! Thanks! |

James Cameron Thickness
I never tried it on until I went to ad. I even paid for it before seeing it. When they first handed it to me my initial thoughts were wow this is thick!
I’m a big fan of pams and have submersibles that are thick but this thing felt far more heavier and thicker. I immediately fell in love with it because it’s so different than any other Rolex and it feels just so substantial. I got 7.6” wrists and it feels great and sits perfect. Get it you won’t regret it. I was surprised how well it fit on my 7" flat wrist when trying one on at the AD. I also wear a 15.7mm thick Planet Ocean that doesn't bother me in the least but everyone has their own likes.
not a great pic for it's height. Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk |

I’m also a big guy and have flat wrists. I find that it wears better than the SD43 due to its shallower back for my wrist shape. It’s also a cool watch from a visual and technological standpoint.

I'm wearing mine now and it wears as thick as a 45.5mm Planet Ocean. I don't think it's as thick, but it wears larger. It's a chunk of a Rolex.

Aside from the purchase decision, you would have no problem with the size. My wrist is 7.25 and flat and I love the fit!

With a 7-5/8" flat wrist you should be fine. The thickness is subjective. I don't find the thickness to be an issue, at all.
I actually enjoy it's proportions very much on my almost 7 3/4" round wrist.

Without a doubt my DSSD JC wears thicker than my 45mm POC. It’s the way the Omega tapers the sides of their cases and not just a flat side wall on the DSSD JC. The case back is wider and flatter on my POC which also is a factor in it not sitting as perched up as the DSSD JC. Omega has a lot more experience in the 42-45mm size case design.

It’s a thick, chunky watch. Doesn’t bother me much but it certainly seems to bother others. You’ll need to try it on to know.

I've said this before, and I'll say it again. This is by far the absolute best photo I've ever seen of the D-Blue.

Nice! Two great watches. Is that the all black Deep Black? I tried that one on and it is nice and light and also, due to the way Omega did the strap, it fits very close to the wrist as the strap goes straight down on either side of the case and lugs. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I have the black 126660. It's a heavy, thick watch and I certainly notice the difference in weight compared to my regular 40mms. Surprisingly the wider case isn't an issue. For me getting the exact size on the bracelet is essential to prevent this lump of a watch flopping around. It is a real chunky beast.

My issue with the DSSD is not even the thickness, it is how it WEARS the thickness. The mid-case profile is almost comically thick. If it moved that thickness around a little better and thinned out the case I could live with the overall thickness. My Omega Moonphase is less than a mm thinner than the DSSD but doesn't look anywhere near as thick on the wrist because the mid-case is fairly svelte. But the DSSD looks every bit as thick as it is. I still think the JC DSSD dial is the best that Rolex produces.

I own a DSSD JC, a SD43 and a Hulk. All three wear great and while they are different sizes they work very well on the wrist. For the DSSD JC it is all about getting the watch size appropriately for your wrist. Once that is done, the watch wear great. I have a 7.5-7.75 inch wrist depending on the weather and think that there is a place in my collection for all three Rolex Divers.

Still seems like a fairly slim guy to me, though I'm sure he's thickened up as years have gone by. Definitely not at his peak Titanic days though.

It's a super tall watch that the new 2019 model has counterbalanced the fact with a wider bracelet that makes the watch sit a bit steadier without the feeling to it flipping off the wrist. the older model was completely out f proportions. Been a big guy with a wide wrist will help a lot.

Great photo! I've always liked the look of the DSSD, but have never actually seen one to try on. It sure is one helluva fat chunk of Rolex steel, and this photo makes me think I probably couldn't really wear it, even if I could find one! It sure makes my 14060 look positively dainty...!!
