Hublot BigBang LE Bitcoin

Has anyone taken a look at the Hublot Big Bang Bitcoin LE? Anyone actually apply? I submitted for the watch and received a response back from Hublot to submit and make a deposit.

What is everyone's thoughts on this watch?

Without seeing what the watch looks like... It's very difficult to make a deposit, although very interesting

It’ll have a square dial methinks. And like the Rolex Jubilee dial will have uniquely embossed surface.

But not very inspiring with each one having blockchain all over it.

Good friend of mine pointed out it looks almost identical to the Meca-10 with some changes. They are trying to sell it for 4BTC or $25K USD. Looks like a pass to me.

I'm curious about this watch as well. I started the verification process, but they did not accept one document I submitted, in this email they also stated a price:

Quote:
Please note that all documentation and funding (approximately 4 bitcoin or USD 25,000) must be received prior to 29th October 2018 for you to be considered eligible for purchase. Given the high levels of interest, we strongly recommend submitting all necessary requirements ASAP. Also note that the time pieces are slated for delivery in January 2019 and will be handled by Hublot directly.
I don't have any experience with previous sales of limited Hublot watches. Are they going to reveal the watch before the actual sale starts?

I'm wondering about the Bitcoin logo on the watch. On one of the two websites a Bitcoin logo is clearly visible, while on the other it's not (see attachment).

On other forums people claimed Hublot watches are not price stable and their approach is to create one limited edition after the other, so this is also not a viable selling point. Then again, 210x doesn't sound like a lot me..?

got to give them credit... bitcoin LE shows they can find a reason to justify anything.

Plus its ironic that this cryptocurrency edition requires you to submit passports, proof of address, and a photo but you get to pay with a totally anonymous and untraceable form of currency

Defeats the entire premise

Due to anti money laundering laws, providing a passport is also common practice for payments in cash above 10.000 EUR, so I'm not very surprised.

Harrods had a big sale on LE Hublots earlier this year. They sent out an email and everything to advertise the fact they would be discounting them. LE doesnt matter if they dont sell out and there are so many of them they dont, without a lot of help.

my point was thats the opposite of the premise of this particular LE. Bitcoin is supposed to be untraceable so you pay in an untraceable way and then provide all kinds of supporting documents to tie the payment to a person. Its like making an Aquaman LE that isnt water resistant.

Might as well pay with a credit card, and do an AMEX LE instead.

Got some more information:

Quote:
Thanks for your email. Please note that you will not send any funds until you have successfully provided all KYC information, signed the legal trading and purchase agreement for the payment of the watch and we have confirmed allocation for you. Please note that OSL is acting as the trading venue to facilitate the Crypto payment for this special bitcoin edition watch, we are a subsidiary of HK publicly listed mainboard company and the leading digital asset brokerage of Asia.

Lastly, please note that there are no pictures for the watch, the watch will be revealed after the private sale ends (it's currently oversubscribed). That will be on November 6th. Currently what is available is that its a Big Bang Collection, assembled by hand, 45mm. Hublot and OSL feel very enthusiastic that the design once revealed will represent well the 10th year anniversary of Bitcoin.

I’d not realized this was a thing; paying for a watch before seeing what it looks like.

Have Hublot done this before?

Yeah, that is a hard pass for me. So many things weird with this... Pay for the watch before you even see it and they only accept BTC as payment which is supposed to be an anonymous form of currency but yet want to know everything about you short of a DNA sample lol

Hublot is awful and this is an awful Hublot.

Chasing a fad is the wrong way to go for a mechanical watch.

Notice that there aren't Hublots for investments that have proven themselves over time.

Ugh fake limited edition hype made by Hublot turns me off on the brand. It seems every Hublot is a limited edition series. How can a brand have 5273736 models that are limited? Imo i would never buy a watch I didn’t get to see and try on. Hublot takes a deep dive on preowned so keep that in mind. Charging the price for fine made watches with history without either characteristic.

Hublot getting on the bitcoin bandwagon. Timely.
$24K for a watch you can't yet see and which may, or may not have a large massively unattractive bitcoin logo ?
And is already oversubscribed, but you can still get in on the action ?

I'm guessing that the value of this watch will take a trajectory reflecting it's namesake this past 10 months.

That's one ugly watch. Tried my best to be open minded and liked Hubolt. Eevn tried a few pieces on... But creations like the one highlighted in this thread only re-affirm my prior opinion about the brand: Lots of hype that overshadows everything else.

Some more information and pictures:

Quote:
HUBLOT and OSL as industry pioneers in our respective fields feel confident that once revealed it will be greatly appreciated by the buyers of this unique timepiece. It is assembled by hand, part of the BIG BANG SERIES, MECA-10 model with Microblasted and polished ceramic case size 45mm, It's truly remarkable.

No pictures will be released until after the launch November 6. The only available information is the above, and the only pictures that we can share are attached, they are just snaps of the watch or silhouette (attached).

As one of the few Hublot defenders here, even I have to admit that this watch is ugly. Really ugly. Almost as bad as the new RM McLaren.
