pre-comex 5513 - thoughts?

Traveling in Japan and thinking about this as a first purchase. Any red flags? It's a bit nerve-wracking so appreciate the crowdsourcing tips.

Thanks in advance!

It's a well-regarded store in Japan.
The store operates on a strictly reservation-only basis, so please be mindful of this.

The watch looks nice enough, but my experience is that retail store prices in Japan are outrageous, even with the weak yen. And then you have the potential stress of customs. I suspect that you'd be better off buying from a US dealer.

How much are they asking?

Watch looks pretty good with nice patina, although during one of the polishings the crown guards were done unevenly and the lugs were thinned out a bit. Do you have a UV photo?

No UV photo, but I'm seeing it in-person tomorrow. As yama4ta indicated, it's a well-regarded dealer in Japan. The price works out to roughly $15k. Unfortunately, since it's consignment, there isn't the benefit of a tax refund.

There is also a meters first 5513 for the same price that I'm considering.

What do you mean by pre-COMEX 5513? Is it engraved Comex and a number on the caseback? If not then it has nothing to do with COMEX.

It’s a widely accepted term that’s been around for years, and written about extensively.
