I just got robbed at the AD here in Seoul, Korea. I spent $333 on a regular pre-vendome brushed buckle. I think this little buckle cost more than a 18K solid gold ring. I can't believe how expensive these little things are and I also can't believe I bought it for such an expensive price. I'm such a sucker.

You got Panerai bugs man! That's how we all are...
Look out at the Paneristi forum they have all sort of accessories for sale. I've seen similar one costing for about $225.

Dude... I seriously do have it. I've seen them going for that price range in the the forums except I didn't want to wait for shipping.

Did you purchase the brushed "historical" buckle? New MSRP as of 8/1/11 is $260. Still pricey in my book. The regular thumbnail buckle is $190. I have some aftermarket buckles. No Panerai stamped on them, but they are decent alternatives.

Yes. I bought the historical buckle. In Korea, luxury items are very expensive due to customs and other taxes. I ordered some aftermarket ones that actually have the PANERAI stamp on them. I shouldn't have went to the AD today...

One OEM buckle is enough for me (one that comes with the watch kit). I can't see spending that much coin for a buckle. I'd rather use that coin for a new strap.

I too would spend the money on an OEM strap, but get a $10 after market buckle that you cannot tell the difference. I have started to add some non-OEM straps, but do like OEM better, but without the OEM buckle. Just my .02. Walking into AD can be expensive

I've paid out the booty for OEM buckles...and picked up a $25 knock off from panatime.com. Quality on the aftermarket stuff just isnt the same.

However, the tubes and screws are just fine. Ads dont carry them.

Personally, I prefer spending an extra 10/20 for a sewn-in buckle when I go non-OEM. Fewer things to have to switch.

However, if you prefer all-original (pricey) pieces for your OEM straps, why not?

I hate to buy knock offs of anything but buckles like this are an easy one. I try and buy unusual shapes and materials for fun. Lots of people make cool looking Pre V shaped buckles with some great designs.

You can get them with initials or designs cut into the flat part or get them in antique looking brass etc. Have some fun!
