STOLEN: Rolex Daytona Ceramic Everose on Oysterflex SN 19Q19739

Be aware, I just had this watch stolen from me when meeting with who I thought was a buyer that contacted me through Chrono24. Transaction was meant to take place face-to-face, after examining the watch the thief bolted and ran off down the street with the watch/box/papers.

This occurred on Wednesday, April 1 at around 11:15am, at 5095 Telegraph Ave, Oakland, CA 94609. Police report has been filed.

The watch serial number is 19Q19739.

This story (that we have heard on more than one occasion) is angering and horrible.

But we are all glad that no physical harm came into play.

Karma will get these bad guys some day.

What a dirty guy, has Chrono24 done anything in the way of tracking down IP etc. Probably used VPN anyway.

Chrono24 has yet to respond to my email and their customer service phone number goes straight to voicemail. This being my first selling experience with them, it has... not gone well thus far.

Don't see how this has anything to do with Chrono24 as you went outside their recommended practices and met face to face on your own probably to save a few dollars.

Sorry to sound unsympathetic, but as a physician trying his best to keep the lid on COVID-19, I’ll ask why is anyone meeting someone they have never met to exchange a watch like this at this particular time.....it is EXACTLY this type of interaction we are trying to discourage state wide. I know everyone is trying to get the money they can, however they can, but please try to shelter in place as recommended.

If you are dumb enough to toss 30k, why should people feel sorry?

Your comments are unnecessary and rude for someone that got his watch stolen..... So, if you get something stolen from you, it means you're stupid??
Maybe, he should have been more careful and cautious.

How about showing a little respect for people? Specially, someone that is probably annoyed as hell, yet he's trying to help out others with advice and not buying his stolen watch, maybe?

How would you feel if you bought that "stolen" watch and it gets confiscated by the police, or Rolex when you take it for service..... whatever, and someone comments with "You did something very dumb".....?

Sometimes, if you have nothing positive to say or useful for others, its better not to say anything at all.

life is hard.
really

so even if OP busted his ass off for the monies earned to buy this piece, he should know better.

1- it’s a pandemic
2- it’s a 30k watch being sold to a stranger

facts.

sheesh.
you enablers aren’t helping this guy, or others to not repeat the same mistakes.
this “watch out” section is like a broken record.

Sorry OP, glad you were not harmed, but how many times does this need to happen?!

After another TRF member was robbed about a month ago in same area as OP(Berkeley) I reached out to a buddy of mine works who for San Leandro PD, which is in the county where this occurred, he is assigned to the major crimes task force in Alameda County...this is not irregular! As of a month ago there was at least 7 active, open watch theft cases dating back to last summer within the county, all with the same MO. Given the details of each case they believe it to be the work of a robbery crew that is not only targeting luxury watches but high end electronics and cameras.

Do not meet people face to face unless you are doing so at a Police station only. With the shelter in place order in effect and most Police station lobbies closed to the public, consider holding onto your watch if meeting a random stranger face to face at a local coffee shop is your only option.

Be safe, it is not worth losing your watch...or your life.

Interesting, did he say whether they're commonly solved or not? (I'd imagine not)

What's not clear to me (I suppose because I'm not a criminal) is where the market is for high-value stolen Rolexes. Given that it seems most pawn shops as well as Rolex service centers will check serial numbers against stolen databases, where do you find a buyer for a stolen $30k gold Rolex? Is it just a group of criminals all buying and selling amongst themselves?
