Icon4 Tips to spot Fraud

Tips to Spot Buyer Fraud (Also similar to Seller Fraud. Swap Buyer for Seller and Sending and Receiving funds)

✓ Buyer asks you to respond only to their personal email to avoid TRF DMs.
✓ Buyer immediately offers to pay without asking typical WIS questions about the watch or for more images.
✓ Buyer insists they can only make payment via wire and tries to convince you to ship quickly by sending you a fictitious deposit date or fake guarantee that the funds cleared.
✓ Buyer gives unneeded information about their personal life and career, for example, I am overseas, in the military or need the watch for an event.

Good idea. Perhaps this will cut down on some thread redundancy, or even save someone from becoming a victim.

I have no first-hand experience, but I would also add to the list: be skeptical of an unknown buyer/seller requesting payment outside of normal channels to avoid fees (i.e. PayPal Friends & Family), which you sort of covered in item #3.

This post is mainly to give you a free bump.

My light hope is that we start a Members Perspective page where we simply add ideas. A living Fraud Prevention page if you will.

If anyone asks a Watch Out question where the potential new page has the answer, send them there.

New one post member has a question, send them there.

A seller is asking me to use a wire and the name doesn’t match the seller’s, send them there.

Etc.

Good idea. Other tips: Find other ways of verifying a seller's account is actually used by him (and not hacked).
Use Google image search to check if the presented pictures of an item for sale are not stolen from someone else.
With regards to Paypal, many sellers are moving away from Paypal due to their change of policies.... Requesting a wire transfer only is not a clear sign of fraud.
My 2 cents.

Tips:

Just buy from TRF boutique trusted sellers or AD.

Don’t come to the TRF asking about authenticity after you already buy.

I agree. Same with asking to correspond by email. I usually message Chrono24 sellers to email me as faster and more convenient for me.
