Freediver Jacques Mayol
Yesterday I watched a documentary about freediver Jacques Mayol. In 1981 he became the first person to dive to 100 meters without breathing apparatus. He was wearing an Omega Seamaster (Ref. 396.0900). Wonderful recordings are shown and the history of freediving is illuminated. An extraordinary person whose story is told by companions with a sad ending.
An interesting story not only for divers! |

This is cool, he certainly adds to the brand's history or appeal to me. A true ambassador, and I didn't even realize despite seeing the Seamaster 120 watches with his name on the case come up for sale. I'm not sure what it is about dive watches, but they're so fascinating to me.

Omega themselves acknowledge this. A great feat but I can't remember if "The Big Blue" movie features Omega
