Ok, so its a massive "if" but......
What if Rolex really have stopped 126600 production and what if March sees the "new" SD43 with an all white text dial?
(Not that I believe either of those have/will happen, but play along with me) That would give us say 10 months production of the Single Red 50th Anniversary Sea Dweller. And probably all manufactured in 2017, the anniversary year. Would that make a "Single Red SD43" the shortest variant production run in Rolex history? Or have there been shorter runs of a variant in the past?

if it happens we shall witness SD126600 prices rallying and skyrocketing in a way that last year's bitcoin's rally would seem like a turtle running when compared.
It would be nice for us owners tho. However, it is unlikely. |

I think even if this was once the plan the tulip mania of recent times will have persuaded Rolex to quickly felt tip pen those whites back to reds over Xmas. Greys have partied enough.

I just don't think doing a limited run like this (strictly talking about the red text) is the current Rolex way.
Other companies do, but it's not part of the recent Rolex way of thinking and marketing their products. The less hype and speculation about this, the better.

The Vintage guys will know more of very limited runs, can't remember anything short like that in recent years.

Agree that our vintage experts will have to answer this one for you Scott. Nothing comes to my mind, with the exception of the original Patent pending SD, which I believe was the predecessor to the red SD. That might have been. A limited production run of a very short duration

If they did that would people lose interest in the new white text and just buy subs for less money since they would look so similar?
I personally don’t think Rolex will do this. If they did, i’d say the starting bid would be around $20k preowned. NOS, maybe more? |

The SD43 aka Submariner XL will have a 7-10 year run
Better off buying a D-Blue at this stage |

I just can't see the red text going away anytime soon.. It's marketing, and they want to sell watches..

If that happens please remind me to kill myself for not having bought one at every phone call from ADs and boutique. I'm lucky to live in a place where there's little demand for such expensive toys.
Deep down I secrelty hope red will turn to white, but why would Rolex treat us with such generosity? I know why, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the model of course! |

I don't think i will , but theres no way Rolex would have put a statement out even if it was a limited anniversary model for a one year run can you imagine that . I Think It would still sell well with white txt if the sub's size is left alone this year.
