New Turtle

Made an impulse buy of my first Turtle last week while vacationing in NYC. I consider them the spiritual successors to the Monsters of which I've had a few. There was a two block section on Canal St that had at least four Seiko AD's each with a dozen or so to choose from. Picked this up from Vinny at Las Americas Jewelry, good price and service, nice little shop that also carries Oris, Hamilton, Tissot, and a couple of other brands.
He also sells some used watches, there was a guy there looking at a used Yachtmaster who asked if I wanted to sell my BLNR.
I believe Seiko divers are the best bargain in automatic watches, great for an introduction piece or for the seasoned collector.

Congrats on a smart purchase. I am done wearing divers worth thousands of dollars. I want to be able to really beat up the thing during beach and pool activities. If I lose it is the ocean, I go buy another.

I am wearing my Speedy Pro today and I can't wait to wear my 779 tomorrow to work. I think it is amazing how you can enjoy a watch that cost a few hundred bucks just as much as one that cost many thousands of dollars.

Totally agree with you on that last point

Congrats on a great watch.

Wearing my Turtle today. It runs +1 sec per day. Just can’t beat the value of these divers.

Yeah, when you think about it wearing a diving watch that is liable to damage that is worth many thousands of dollars is illogical. But I not so long ago bought a Seiko SLA017 that is exactly that type of watch

So Seiko isn't necessarily the 'cheap' alternative. However, they do offer the Turtle and other dive watches at very reasonable prices too.

I get just as much pleasure from wearing my Turtle as I do other dive watches that are more than 20 x the price of the Turtle.

I bought a 7526-0029, monster, red/blue dial, day-date in 1998. Has a Singapore movement. Still runs, never serviced, but greatly abused which was reason for the purchase.

Congrats!
I just bought a PADI turtle, as posted in another thread. This watch is an incredible buy for the money, and I don’t know why it took me so long to ge one.

Congrats! It's an incredible watch for little money yet as enjoyable as a Rolex Sub.
