Is my Sub Genuine?
Hi all,
Recently purchased a 116610LV Submariner from WatchFinder (UK) it was literally brand new (a week or so old) unworn and still had all the original stickers attached as well as the complete guarantee card, tags and box. When I removed all the stickers I never noticed any issues but after a couple of days I notices a couple small scratches on the back plate. Now I'm beginning to worry in case it isn't genuine. Fully understand I'm jumping to conclusions here but if there's anywhere I can ask for advice, it's here. I have checked everything I can through online research and can't see any real reasons of concern when comparing it to fakes. Any advice is really appreciated. I can't add my links yet where I'm a noob! Thanks all! |

I can't think of any time that a couple of scratches on a watch would indicate anything about authenticity.

Confused by the question.
Why would scratches worry you?

It’s polished metal.
The minute you remove the stickers, welcome to the world of scratch magnet. |

Thanks for the responses, I just didn’t think a brand new watch would have them to be honest. I managed to get a fairly clear picture of the laser etched crown earlier and on comparison with others it’s put my mind at ease more.

For some reason it keeps saying that my iPhone pictures are the wrong size and when I resize them and get a link it says the link is invalid! What's the best site to use guys?

Congratulations looks very nice!
Picked up a brand new Omega Seamaster the other week from AD and that had a few tiny ones on it after a few seconds of owning. Been wearing it everyday since so its quite scratched now all ready.

I'm just worry all those very well-made fakes will kill the grey seller and second hand market, due to people getting suspicious and not buying them anymore. |

Enjoy, you are bound to get scratches on the clasp definitely. I’m ambidextrous but write left handed and as kid always wore watches on left hand. Always scratches pretty good. I did not want to happen to a Rolex so before I purchased I used my old watch on right arm to see if I cud get used to it. It feels different but figured I wud go for it so I bought my Sub. It’s a daily wearer and minimal scratches after 2yrs. It would look like shit otherwise. Just my story

I wasn’t keen on posting a 4 figure item to them when I sold a watch to WF so I went to the Maidstone office. There’s a service centre upstairs and my watch was taken to be inspected by one of the technicians. It was up there a lot longer than it would take just to verify condition. I’m sure that amongst other things they were checking authenticity. Buying from WF is 99.99% as good as buying from an AD as far as peace of mind goes. |

Fantastic feedback from all, really appreciated guys thanks a lot.
I paid a fair bit over retail for it but have been on many so called ‘waiting lists’ for too long now and it came up at the perfect time so I had to snap it up! The problem I encountered time and again is that if you haven’t purchased multiple watches from AD’s they would seemingly put you on a fictional list to get you out of the shop and prioritise existing customers and high rollers - that’s an exact quote from the AD in Harrods in London! |

On another note, what do you guys use to clean your watches? Any tips for the divots on the bezel?
