I usually figure out about how much my watches lose per month (I rarely have a watch that gains time,) and then I just set it ahead every couple of months when I change the date.
In other words, if my watch was to lose 2 minutes per month, and I reset it every two months, I just reset it to be two minutes fast. So, it starts two minutes fast, and, by the end of two months, it's running two minutes slow. No biggie. |

How often do you reset the seconds on your watch?
Someone asked me if my Pepsi keeps good time. I said I don’t know, frankly I don’t measure it. Then thought might be a good idea just to measure it ( and my other watches too) for fun. Did a quick search and found the app WatchTracker being liked by others so I downloaded it ( what is $5 amongst friends).
Nice intuitive app. You set up many watches in there , you can even take and use a picture of your watch for its profile. Then the app sync’s it’s timing with atomic clock ( my iPhone was .12x Recife off apparently LOL). Then you start tracking your watch. First set your watch using the time it shows (that operation in and of itself will Introduce at least half a second margin of error , if you don’t think so you are too sure of yourself). Then you Add a new datapoint as often as you like, once a day or two is good enough for me. When you say add a datapoint, it shows you a time in few seconds that you need to tap the screen when your watch reaches it. This is easy as you don’t need to look at your phone, just look at your watch and tap the screen when it reaches there. The app will show you how many seconds your watch is ahead or behind, and all sorts of other graphs etc. apparently my Pepsi is about 7-8 seconds fast per day. This is way better than adjusting your watch on a daily basis, and you can track your watch performance over a few days or weeks or months. Get the app or similar one and enjoy tracking your watch performance. But don’t adjust your watch in a daily basis. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I never do, I would say when my watches reserve runs out but I wear it everyday so only time I suppose would be when I’m changing time zones.

Yeah, that's why, if my watch loses a little per month, I just move the minute hand up a couple of minutes when I have to change the date from 31 to 1.

Used to reset frequently when I had my first. Now, only when I set the time.

Monthly. I log it, and plot it, in case there's a problem. It's not a chore to me. It's another way my watch gives me satisfaction. Everybody's journey is a bit different.
I'm thinking daily is undue wear. But, it's your watch. |

I usually do when I take it out of storage and wear it. That's it. The watches are accurate enough that I don't need to check them while they're on my wrist. At +/- 2sec/day that is about a minute per month. More than accurate enough for me.

I use only one Rolex (116610) and reset seconds each month with 30 days, change date to 1 and reset seconds (then each 60 days)

When it stops, I need to change the date or if the time is noticeably out.

Never these days.
There was a time, many years ago, when I would hack the second hand and try to set my watch to the second regularly. Probably when I got my first Swiss automatic (Omega Seamaster) in the 90’s. These days, wearing Deep Blue 90% of the time, I’m satisfied if the date hour and minute are true. I travel a lot for work, so I change time zones multiple times every week. A few times a month Deep Blue stays home and runs out because I’m somewhere more dangerous or doing activities that would damage it or just want to wear another watch. One of the reasons I enjoy wearing a base Panerai on occasion is because all they do is tell basic time - no date, no second hand, no chrono, no GMT - it’s a very pure aesthetic and I find it kind of relaxing to be free of any other concern except, “It’s almost 10 before noon.” Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro |

That must be one of them new-fangled watches where the second hand stops when you pull the crown out!
I do have "hacking" watches, but as long as I'm +/- a minute I'm good enough. Quartz=accuracy. And those can also be "regulated" (well, decent ones can) and I had a Tag Heuer that was serviced and I asked for calibration and it was less than a second deviation per month. I think I only had it another six months or so after that service and I think I only adjusted the date as needed, not the time. Anyway, if you are this obsessive with accuracy, you are using the wrong watch. |

NASA would like you to time their reentry burns. They are not happy with the accuracy they are getting from the Cesium clock. |

I have a BLNR and an Explorer 2. They run +1 and -1s/d. So i set them 1 minute late/fast, and adjust once every 3-4 months. Always within a minute correct. Thats good enough.

Seconds...
I never set the seconds unless I am preparing to check timing - which isn't very often any more.

I’ll check now and then. It’s a good indicator as to how the watch is running.

Twice a year when we go forward or back an hour, plus if I go abroad.
Otherwise, I never need to adjust it as it only gains/loses a second or two a month which can be adjusted by its positioning on the night stand once in a while. |
