Do you swim with your speedy 3570?

Thinking of this as my next purchase (as soon as we close on our new home later this month)! Wanted to see if people swim with theirs or not. Thanks in advance!

I've owned three and I never felt comfortable wearing them in water. I know they're rated to 100m but I don't bring a watch without a screw-down crown into anything more than rain. I'm probably being overcautious.

Never have, don't plan on ever doing it. After all, my PO's can handle 600m and need to get some wear.

I cover it up in light rain. Regardless of what anyone writes in this thread.

I don't swim in anything over $1000. Then again, I rarely swim. But when I do, it's quartz

I would never swim with mine. If I really wanted a watch for swimming, I'd get a Seiko diver/beater.

I don't but you can if you want. I believe it's rated to 50m and OK to swim. I don't think I've heard any stories of water damage following swimming.

Thanks. This is what I understand, and wanted to know. Seems most wouldn't regardless of the 50m rating.

The Speedy is rated to 50m. In the real world, it should be ok for shallow swimming, but without a screw down crown, there's not a chance that I'd swim with one.

Hmmm...this consensus really changes my view of what is one of the most affordable must-have classics. I like watches that can take a beating and keep on ticking, albeit at a chronometer pace. To think that this watch, which surpassed all watches for a moon mission, would be dodgy in more than rain, completely throws me. For me, any watch, needs to be able to go for a swim or else it's too delicate for me.

Perhaps my expectations are too high.

Never felt comfortable doing that just because it's not a dive watch.

If an inability to take a swim with a Speedy changes your views--it probably wasn't the watch for you in the first place.

Have two buddies that own Speedy Pros. We were deployed together and have seen them shower, swimming, and spear fishing wearing their Speedy. No problem. I either wore a SMP GMT or my DSSD. Our Skipper did same activities sporting his Pam 88 GMT.

I bought mine in St. Thomas and within 2 hours, I was snorkeling in saltwater with it on. I swim and shower with it and never have a second thought.

Are all of them 50m rated? For some reason, I thought the models with solid case-backs were rated to 100m. Either way, no screw down crown means so swimming for me.

Without a screw down crown it's simply silly to swim with it

No and I have no reason to.

That is what my dive watches are for.

Just to be clear, with a 50m rating, it's OK to swim in. The fact that the consensus here is that people choose not to doesn't change the watches capabilities.

And if people choose to cover it up in the rain, that's their choice. There's probably an issue there but it's not with the watch.

Well I'm debating between the speedy and a white AT. So, this sort of tips the scales over to the AT since it seems I can just slap it on and wear it and not worry about changing watches this summer when it comes to pools or swimming. Thanks everyone.

Most of the time I'm around water I'm not concerned with what time it is. If I am, then it's Seamaster or Orange Monster on my wrist.
