Spoke with my favorite dealer on the phone and . . .
he had some interesting info for me.
As has been reported, Omega is increasing the MSRP of the Speedmaster Professional line of watches. This will be in the range of $500-$600 to cover the cost of the new box and goodies: ![]() Always thinking ahead, my dealer has greatly increased his inventory of Speedy Pros in their various flavors. These he will make available at the current MSRP but when they are gone, there will be no more. Don't know about you but I wear the watch and not the box. No way I am going to spend that kind of money on packaging. I've even put a couple of my special Omega boxes (one mahogany and one leather) on the market. They were just taking up space in the closet. He also mentioned that he still had a few of the Gen I, cal 2500 Planet Oceans in stock. I am now awaiting arrival of my BNIB, 42mm, cal. 2500D, Planet Ocean. (It may become a safe queen.) |

I hate the bling box. just put it in a card board box, and charge me $1000 less.

Same here, simple box for me is best as they just get stored once I start wearing them.

Wow. Is that set going to come with all 3570s now or just special editions? That box is actually a huge step up, and the goodies are actually quite nice--the astronaut velcro is especially awesome. But that said, I also have no use for a $200 spare caseback or a $150 branded loupe...so for $500 more in total, that's quite a bit to pay for a box and a few spare toys you'll put in your closet.

Not happy about any sort of price increase but at least Omega is throwing in some goodies (valuable or not - debateable but at least something). Unlike Rolex which increases prices almost yearly with nothing extra but the prices.

This is just silly. The new box looks good but it's not a necessity or worth the price increase.

Thanks for the post. Seems like a cute way to hike the price and put a new spin on a timeless watch. Gives the marketing people some justification to keep their jobs ..... I can hear the meeting pitch now .... New box...ya! Lol.
