It worked in my head/native tongue! ;-) Sorry, rushed post, but the point still came across, I hope.

I go to Detroit a lot - and never wear a rolex there. Even the casinos.

Breitling is even worse for drawing unwanted attention down there.

I honestly don't know what the point is when wearing your Rolex to 3rd world countries...

Beyond just asking to be robbed I feel its just a slap in their face that what's on your wrist can feed a small village for an entire month.

A friend of my dad's and a close family friend advised me on the GMT I now have, which had been my dads and stashed away deep in a drawer. He advised me on a guy who could service it and also said that people would be willing to cut my arm off for it, especially in this economy. That is something I keep in the back of my mind, but I will wear it where I want, when I want. I am a big dude, so people looking for trouble typically don't hassle me, anyway. Not like I flaunt it, anyway.

Miami Customs

When arriving in the USA through Miami, the customs officer payed way too much interest in my date-just. Warned me not to walk the streets with it on show, told me people would kill for a "watch like that", I did, and lived to tell the tale, loved Miami!

Happened today! A co worker that ive only met a couple of times commented on my DSSD. I immediately felt a bit uneasy and subcontiously said: "it was a gift". She said from your dad? I said no my mom. I don't know why I lied, but I felt so stupid the rest of the day. My point is, this happened so oddly, that I guess I really am uncomfortable in some situations. Back the PAM tomorrow. Nobody knows what it is.

usually the casino's in detroit are akin to walkin the streets in the wrong part of town.... ive been around some real shady characters before. lots of drug dealers etc. hangin around spendin money. you might be "ok" while on the premisis but dont count on it when you walk to your car.. i personally know a few people that have got rolled on their way out before....

I wear it everywhere. Granted, I don't frequent the ghettos of the world... but, occasionally I will experience unwanted attention or comments... nothing beyond that...

Rack on the thread....only once, but I had just started wearing a Rolex and the bracelet needed adjustment

Actually, I have lived and worked in some really good and really bad areas, so I just don't wear 'em when its questionable. No sense asking for trouble .....

Maybe if I have an all YG piece. otherwise with my mostly SS collection (one TT blue sub), I would wear the SS anywhere.

Only once. I'll try to make this short. I was doing a colleague a favor and showing a duplex to a client in a not so nice area of Los Angeles. I arrived before the client to unlock and look around. The entire porch area was "caged in" with a security gate. First indicator I should not have been wearing my TT sub. Anyway I sat on the porch area with the gate open waiting for the client. There was a box truck that was parked directly in front on the street i noticed when I pulled up. Then two guys come strolling up the street and start spray painting the entire side of the truck. I stupidly sat there and watched. Anyway, they noticed me and started to approach me on the porch. They were yelling "what are you looking at" and I realized my mistake. Initially I thought they were going to paint my car but they passed that and walked up to the proch. I was caged in. I stayed seated and just said hey man I don't care I'm a real estate agent waiting for a client. I was wearing a short sleeve polo and could see one of the guys looking at my sub. At that point I was sure he may attempt something. He stared and was silent for a bit. Then my client pulled up and the one guy said "alright" and they both walked back twords the street. Anyway thats the only time when I ever thought I might be robbed for my watch. I should have left it home that day.

About 20 years ago I was in Phuket, Thialand, talking to an oil guy on r&r. A couple of nights previous he had got really drunk and was mugged. They took his money, shoes, even his shirt, but left his £13,000 watch as they thought it must have been a fake.

This is a very interesting. Food for thought? Some of the situations that have been discussed as maybe not appropriate times to wear the watch have made me think other wise. Being that I am a Black male, when I wear my Rolex around town others such as AD, Highend department stores, car dealerships, scrupulous parts of the city and at business meeting for salary increase have had positive effects. I guess other people assumptions or stereotypes of me, when they see the Rolex on wrist it makes them behave in a more inclusive /willing to deal than exclusive. Just my perspective.

Yes, just recently I was on a train from Florence to Rome. There was a certain gentleman who was casing the car looking at people and there luggage. I know he saw my GMTIIC. That has been the only time I felt uneasy.
