Ireland trip

I am going to Ireland for a little golf trip, leaving in 2 weeks.
This is my third trip to the Emerald Isle for golf since 2016, but it is the first time SOLO. It was sort of a last minute thing for me after some other things fell through and my previous Ireland golf buddies couldn't join this year. I got lucky with tee times, made much easier by being a single. This completes all of my bucket list course in Ireland and N. Ireland. After playing Portrush, PortStewart and County Down last year, the SW is really all that was left.

Playing mostly SW courses except for the first round upon arrival in DUB:
Portmarnock in Dublin
Old Head in Kinsale
Waterville
Ballybunion
Tralee and
Lahinch

I am there for two full weekends returning on Labor Day.
This reason for this post:
My girlfriend is joining me in Dublin for the Second weekend and I need some serious tourist suggestions, since this is her first trip ever out of the US.

We will do the regular DUB stuff like the hop-on hop-off tours, Guinness storehouse, Trinity College, etc., all of which I have done many times, but I am looking for some scenic things in and around DUB to see/do per her request.

I am lucky to be driving the Ring of Kerry and seeing the Cliffs of Moher before she arrives but I want something similar to see with her within a couple of hours of DUB.

Thanks for any and all suggestions.

While in the SW, a visit to Ashford Castle, perhaps for lunch, is highly recommended.

Safe travels, John. It sounds like a great trip idea and I'm sure you'll both enjoy it. I'm not much help with regards to suggestions but I'm pretty sure members here will be

Howth is amazing, and very easily accessible from Dublin city centre. The restaurants are great and it is like being a million miles away from the city.

If you're feeling like a more demanding walk, Glendalough is in Wicklow, pretty close to Dublin, and has absolutely amazing scenery. It is picture postcard stuff.

Kilkenny is a little further but is really picturesque.

Thanks for all of the recs.
Already had Wicklow on the list and may add Howth. It's so close!
I am in Kilkenney a couple of nights on my own, so the girlfriend misses out on that one.

Thank you for not asking if it's safe to wear your Rolex there.

Sounds like a wonderful trip. Enjoy.

Ha!
Yeah, I wear it everywhere without hesitation.
BUT, it might not even make the trip. I have an Omega GMT that I love and an IWC titanium dual time that I am picking up tonight which might make the trip.

Just an hour longer drive and you could travel to NI and see the Giants Causeway.

Thank you.
Went to N Ireland last year. Saw the Causeway and played Royal Portrush, Royal County Down, PortStewart and Ardglass. Oh, and visited Bushmills!

Can't wait to go back.

Depending on how much you want to travel, nothing is ever really that far in Ireland, North and South, then head west to Kilbeggan and do the Connemara whiskey tour.
The only peated Irish whiskey, and it’s nothing like the Scottish peaty ones. The Original is much smoother and subtler, but definitely noticeable compared to typical single malts.

As you’ll be in the neighbour hood, you could head a little south and visit Tullamore for its tour too.
Bring your putter with you, you’ll need it to steady yourself afterwards!

Slan!

Buddy you need to go further North for the best golf courses on the island and some of the most beautiful places you will ever see. From Donegal to the Antrim coast. The land of the giants (Gaints causeway) and the Game of Throne (dark hedges etc.).
The craic is mighty and the Whiskey superb (Bushmill, the oldest whiskey in the world) to the Titantanic museum. The final bonus is the cost with the low GB pound. A much cheaper alternative today than the South.
Enjoy Eire where ever you go but give the North parts a look!

Michael,
In sunny Belfast
