Oh am I glad I picked up my 5513

It seems I was just on the cusp of the exponential rise of the vintage 5513. Its started on my chrono24 collection calculator at just +8% only 9 months ago. Look where its at today...crazy...Tom if you’re reading, this is probably why you had a tough time getting one at the prices I recommended. I had no idea they’d risen so much

I woke up in the middle of the night to pee and grabbed my phone only to see this? Nice of you to rub it in Steve!
I guess I’ll be tossing and turning all night now.
But in all seriousness it seems like prices are creeping up every week and it’s making me want one less and less.

You’re right buddy. I wouldn’t buy at these prices either.

Then You will be left behind wishing You bought last Year when they were 2K cheaper. They aren’t making any more vintage 5513’s,It’s a much safer bet than a Batgirl for 20K+.

Couldn't agree more. Every couple years going back MANY now, people have been saying the same thing. It wasn't too long ago you'd hear: "I missed out, and now there's no WAY I'm paying over $10K for a gilt Sub from 1965!"

My wife was very disapproving of how much I spent on my 1964 gilt Sub four years ago.

She's not so opposed now.

All very well until the fashion changes and the Instagram generation switch to something else.

THIS! The Vintage Submariner 5512’s and 5513’s maintain a tremendous following (especially for all original excellent Maxi matte and gilt dial examples) due to their timeless design and wearing comfort. These references (along with 1680’s) will never go out of style and IMHO remain a very safe investment in vintage Rolex as prices continue to go up consistently. Glad I bought my two five years ago from highly respected “trusted sellers”.

Echo all the comments above and moreover the 5513/5512 are awesome daily watches. I don’t worry about any dings since they just add to the character of these watches.

Funnily enough, that’s what I paid for my 1966 gilt 5513 about 7 years back. Folk thought I was crazy as you could get a modern sub for about half that.

as the old saying goes, your investments can go down as well as up........nothing is nailed on. Fashions, and the markets that serve them, move in mysterious ways.....

I believe you are referencing the 126710BLNR with Jubilee Bracelet.

Only You Can Stop the Spread Of Stupid Nicknames for Beautiful Watches!

Just Say NO to "batgirl"!

Whenever you see the Proper Name: 126710BLNR with Jubilee Bracelet referred to as batgirl simple repost and add the proper name and this picture of batgirl!
