Icon19 Need help identifying a Patek Philippe

Hi, first time poster here, not a big watch guy, that said, bear with me.

A little back story on how I got this watch. A couple years ago my mother passed away, and when that happened my Godfather gave me this watch. It has since been sitting in my safety deposit box for the past 2 1/2 years. Funny enough, I was wearing the thing for several weeks before I punched the brand into google and realized what I had on my wrist. I've since gone back to my Timex.

That said, my Godfather has since got Alzheimer's disease, and asking him about the watch has proved impossible. I know absolutely nothing about this watch. Its age, what it cost new, nothing. I believe he told me it was rose gold, but it doesn't say rose gold on it anywhere that I can see, and I could be wrong about that.

So if there are any kind individuals out there that are knowledgeable about this piece, any help would be appreciated. Truth be told, I'm curious about what it's actually worth more than anything else. Thank you.

Alas, it is fake / counterfeit.

oh boy... they couldn't even sell that at the fake watch store.

If the backstory is true my condolences. A lot of these do come with these stories as well though.

That's very sad to hear. I don't want to know what the poor old man paid for it now. How can you tell?

Unfortunately, the story is true. He was very proud of this watch, too. I better not tell his wife about this news. Someone really took him for a ride, I guess.

Certainly shows how much I know about these fine watches.

I don't think I have ever seen a Patek that has "water proof" and "shock proof" written on the case.

It gets worse. Now that I'm taking a closer look at the thing, with a bit of a detective's eye, I can certainly see the flaws.

Check this out.

Welp, sad story I reckon. That's for your help guys.

It goes all the way over to 39 before it flips back to 00.

The sad part is, his wife has a matching one that's slightly smaller. They've certainly got the money for the real deal, so somebody must have really gotten one over on them. I don't have the heart to tell her it's fugazi. Again, thanks for the help guys.

Hey guys,

Sorry a little off topic but would love some advice...

I just bought a 5980 1R (not cheap obviously) from a reputable store (at least I think - physical presence, lots of ebay feedback, etc) in the US and the watch has not yet arrived but I had the seller send me a picture of the paperwork from the AD.

The name was filled in with mine (apparently it was a display model from an AD in Milan) but was dated and has the store name (verified AD) on the bottom of the paperwork. However, there is no stamp in the section where the AD usually goes. Both my normal watch guy (local dealer) and the store I bought it from said that this is common from European dealers. So my questions are follows:

1) Is this really common? I did a quick google image search and couldn't find any paperwork without a stamp on it or a blacked out section where the stamp would go meaning there was indeed a stamp there.

2) What is the reason for not stamping the certificate? It is dated, has the store name on the bottom of the certificate, etc. I can't see a valid reason why it would be missing a stamp.

3) Will this present a problem for me in terms of resale or having the watch serviced by AP (its dated March 2018 so still a lot of warranty left)?

Thanks guys! Would really appreciate some feedback
