3 Rolex watches is too many...
for me at least. I have 2...a DJ41 and a Sub date. I bought the DJ41 a year ago and the Sub two weeks ago. I love them both and currently they alternate days on my wrist. I can’t imagine ever throwing a third watch into the mix. When I wear one I miss the other. I wish I could wear one on each wrist, however, that would be ridiculous. I purchased my Rolexes to wear them and eventually pass them along to my kids as heirlooms. For those of you who have collections, how do you spend so much money on them and ultimately have multiple sitting on the sideline?

I hear you. All I want is one more Rolex but not any more than that.

A Datejust and a Submariner are certainly a pair to enjoy, but having more than two can allow for a bit of variety that some enthusiasts seek. Perhaps some day you'll be intrigued by a classic, hand-wound Patek chronograph, or maybe something like a Nomos Metro on a Shell Cordovan strap.
Just my $.02 Glad to hear you're thoroughly enjoying your Rolex watches! |

3 watches is the ideal number for me. my 22 year old datejust is my "beater" for days when i work or play hard. my gmt batman is my everyday watch, and the yg day date
is for dressy occasions or when i'm in the mood for a little bling. that being said, i'm looking for a reason to put a daytona into the mix... |

I have 20+ watches and I don't see a problem with that at all.

I like the idea of seven watches. One for each day of the week.

I’m with you OP. Don’t get me wrong there’s a part of my brain that loves these things so much I can make a case for wanting a different Rolex watch to look at every week, but at the point of the dream where I have to take off the one I’m wearing and leave it in a dark box while I enjoy another one, I can’t do it.
So I have just the one. The 16570 Explorer II (I had the BLNR but prefer this. I know. I’m strange like that) - and I have an Omega Seamaster for the rare occasions my Rolex is with Rolex, or when the activity I’m doing makes me nervous wearing Rolex. The downside is I have to fight the urge to pore over Rolexes every day. The upside is I feel a daily connection with the only one I have. I leave myself the wriggle room that if I reaaaly want another, this one has to go. But I have no problem whatsoever with people owning as many as they want. All the more for me to look at on here. It just isn’t me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Two is good for me. Have a D-Blue will look to add a SD43 at some point. Just being patient, I have noticed that as I wait I fall in and out of love with many so the one that sticks and keeps coming back is the one I'll get. The D-Blue is the one foremost that kept coming up so I got that one first.
I'd like three but just don't see a point, so I just come here to look at the ones I like from the sidelines. All Rolex are beautiful, you will want them all, if you can get them all, cool, go for it. |

I currently have too many (five) in addition to three AP's, a JLC, and a Speedy.
When I get the call to say the 5990 has arrived, I will likely rationalise my collection down to: 1. Omega Speedmaster Reduced 2. Rolex Sea Dweller 116600 3. Rolex GMT 126710 BLRO 4. Rolex Daytona 116519 LN 5. Patek 5990 This gives me five very different watches for different outfits, occasions, and activities. Then I will be done!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I understand where you’re coming from OP.
I was up to 5 at one point and that got to be too many for me. My head used to hurt thinking about which watch to wear next. In a weird way, I felt a bit guilty when I wasn’t giving certain references equal wrist time. I’m down to 3 now and this number seems just about right. |

applying the same logic then 2 is too many as well since you can only wear one at a time.

If you are a minimallist type, sure one or two. If you like different watches for different occasions, clothes, etc. then buy all you want. I don't see having them sit any different than leaving 40 shirts behind every day.

I'm hoping for a third Rolex, the new steel Pepsi. That'll be YM, SD43 and BLRO.

I use to only have two Rolex watches, a YG Daytona with the white dial and gold sub dials and a SS Submariner. I was completely happy and thought I would never need more or less. Then time provided other chances to own and I have quite a few more. Enjoy and wear your watches.
