I think 20% is easily attainable, I have been offered 15% off on annual calendars/chronographs without any negotiation. Always easy to negotiate if the AD already has the piece in stock

I would get 5726 for an AC, or even better 5740 for PC

Then go for it. The rose gold with Breguet numerals is a winning combination.

No need to rush this, a RG will turn up soon enough which is your first choice. Best to get it right the first time as this is not one you want to have to flip later.

I think with discretionary purchases like this, it's best not to settle. Personally, I like the rose gold, white dials the best, as they look like classic versions of a classic style to me. And I love blue dials, but not for this. Decide what you like most and then wait for that watch at the right price.

my recommendation is to either go for a perpetual calendar immediately (i like the 5320G best) or to give the 5235G a try. the regulator is not run-off-the mill, it is really special and currently can be had with a nice discount. heck out the SJX blog, they have an excellent recent review.

I am also considering a calendar Patek and personally think that a calendar watch should be worn daily and the durability of the movement is important to me.
I fully understand that neither of the movements are nearly as robust as a Rolex one but they should at least survive daily "white collar" use. For reference, aside from Rolexes I have a JLC Dress watch cal 899 Master Control that works absolutely fine as a daily watch.

So, disregarding price and collectability what should I go for if I want the best durability? They seem to use the same base movements with slight modifications.
One of these?
5320 uses 324 S-Q
5396 uses 324 S-QA
Or maybe
5035 uses 315 S-QA

The "durability" of Patek AC/PC are fairly similar. If you are really focusing on durability, get a Skydweller and you won't have any worries. It will just be a thick watch. If you want an elegant dress watch with AC/PC, then get a Patek.

No issues have been reported here for you to be concerned with any, Breguet 5396 is extra nice imho.

Well said. Durability is not a Patek strongsuit, as is their service times. Rolex's SkyD has been flawless in operation and durability. Also remember with a Rolex you're not stuck with old school pushers, plus the Rolex can be set fwd or backward in time.

If you need a formal / dress watch for light wear on occasions, a Patek is ok. Simply wish Patek would either go full Breguet or not. Also to have black dials where the date/etc windows also has black background. Small yet important styling seems to be amiss with many modern Pateks. Perhaps the next designer will be more detail oriented.

Thank you all for all the feedback and details. So far I am still undecided. I do love the breguet rose gold, but as others mentioned, the date window really messes up the dial..
I went by to try it again and truly love the piece, so I am holding off for a preowned one to not take the depreciation hit.

Another thing that slightly concerns me is service time. I have a few Rolex and have not had to service yet.

I think 5396 is a great looking classic dress watch, I have a wg one which looks close to the legend 3448. Didnt think the date window mess up but is kind of a balance in the dial.

The date window doesn’t bother me. And it makes room for a 24 hour hand which is nice.

I think the 5396 is a gorgeous piece, but I typically see them on the secondary in excess of 35% off, have to suggest you go that route.

I agree - 3 years ago, you could get a 5711 or 5167 at a discount... now they are the hottest watches on the market... I don't see them being future classics though... just hot commodities as of now. I personally think a 5396 - particularly the white dial, will become known as the modern equivalent to the 3448... its classic Patek design and thats what matters.

I got one from the AD for mid to high 30s... I think RRP is high 40s... agree you should go for a 20% discount from an AD... as they probably sell for mid 30s on the grey market - but I think in 20 years time, itll be something special... furthermore, a strong AD relationship is so underappreciated... when I bought mine, I was offered 5164s and 5712s

Really beautiful watch, pretty much in all variants, this might be "the one" for me one day. Curious to see if Patek will release another breguet variant this year.
