How much flash/wrist presence do you think this model receives?

Hi guys, getting close to deciding which Rolex i plan on buying (I think). I hope i'll get lots of wrist presence with the Yachtmaster 2 in white gold with platinum bezel. It's just an epic Rolex and loses lots of value in the secondary market.

I'm wondering if i can get almost as much wrist presence as a gold ceramic sub blue dial 116618. I'm looking for something that draws attention but not so much which could put me in danger when with a loved one. Hopefully that makes sense.

Been mulling over the gold sub, but im thinking that the YM2 in WG/P gives me more PM and isn't as in your face as YG. Also, i like the fact that there's no confusing this model as a replica. Weight, also it isn't popular.

Do you think the 116689 YM2 will give me the wrist presence i desire (within reason). I know most people don't know a thing about watches but i would like the extra attention sometimes.

In regards to "people know nothing" or "extra attention'?

Outside the generic enthusiast and the forums most people really don't know luxury watches.

I have worn a sub for the last 20 plus years. Even with living in a southern climate and wearing a polo every day, maybe one in a hundred people will even notice it's a Rolex (which is how I prefer it). The one that does notice is typically an aficionado and wears one as well.

White metal no... but you are describing a 44mm AP ROO anyway. thats what you need. The RG 44 is nice.

IMO the general public doesnt look at people watches, many can attest to this.

BUT some thieves purposely do....I dont think it matter what you wear, someone who knows looks will know the line either way whether it's a $8k submarine or a $30k PM piece.

With that said, some watch were just meant to be worn from your home, into the Bentley, into your private jet, back into a Bentley, and into the inclusive resort....

You and I buy watches for different reasons...I love my Rolex watches and I prefer that nobody notices them other than my family (which isn’t necessary for me). I wear chose Rolex because I appreciate them and I like what they mean to me, period.

tbh it's not even close to the yg sub

to the general public it would go unnoticeable imo. i would assume what you are looking for is something in rose gold

If you want the attention for bang for buck, just buy the 116613lb. I bought it on holiday (i was probably drunk). Passed by an AD, walked in, 10min later walked out with the tt sub. Personaly i think its a hideous watch but it does get the attention. When i came back to the hotel and later the bar i noticed lots of people staring at my watch (normaly never happends). It it was the first and last day i wore it. Flipped it a week later.

Your post does give some insight into your desire for attention.
BC-ish almost.

Those who will notice a flashy Rolex fall into 2 categories:
1-watch aficionados
2-thieves

Hope #1’s praise is all you encounter.
Because #2 is worse than doo-doo

That YM is a big bold watch and I would notice it, but I am a WIS. IMO it does not carry the same presence as a 116618LB. YG with blue dial stands out.

I do appreciate your honesty. While we may like watches for different reasons, at least you are honest about what you are looking for.

Lastly, I have worn Rolex for 30 years and it is rare anyone notices or says anything about my watches.

This watch is so under the radar I've only seen 2/3 incomings of it in my time here, surprised it is still in production, one of those that can and might go for some SS.

Bluesy is what you want if flash is your desire. Sunburst dials pop. Also look at a day-date with fluted bezel. A fluted bezel gives off a light show.

In summary you want the watch that gives you the greatest amount of BLING factor.

Yellow Gold.

Yellow Gold + Diamonds.

Yellow Gold + Diamonds + Gems.

**** Bling can certainly come at a price to personal safety. A young music artist was recently murdered in Florida and owning flashy things could have been a contributing factor.

The WG YM does not have nearly enough wrist presence as a YG sub.

A close friend of mine owns the SS YM II model and with it's blue Bezel, wow LoL...

Well IMO, when I see him wearing it, I think it definitely has A LOT of wrist presence !

Example: If im at the mall with my girlfriend in the evening and walking back to my car. I could imagine a dude robbing me at knife-point.

Im strongly considering the gold sub sunburst or black dial

I'm confused, you want the watch to be noticed but you don't want it to put you and your loved ones at risk?? Flashy things do get more attention and at times, unfortunately not the kind you want.
