Incoming 8500 PO
So back in like 2010, I called up Feldmar and ordered myself a 2500 Planet Ocean. Black bezel, orange numeral, black rubber strap with orange stitching. Ref 2901.51.82. This was my first real big boy purchase that wasn’t a vehicle. A few not so great memories with it, but one awesome one - I wore it when my wife and I got married. Fast forward to 2013 or so and wifey had some very, very expensive dental surprises. And this was after a very, very expensive shoulder surgery. I decided to sell the watch knowing I’d regret it.
For the past couple of years, I’ve kept my eye out for another 2500 to replace the one I sold. I loved that watch. It checked all the boxes. Nothing ever came around that caught my eye. Finally, after having my blue Pelagos for a week, I found this 8500 PO that wasn’t outrageously overpriced, had all the trimmings, and came with a bracelet. So, I quickly traded off the Pelagos for this fellow. And now I feel almost complete. Still not the 2500, but to be honest - when I ordered my 2500, it was right when the 8500 was being released and I had no idea which I was getting. I just knew black bezel, orange numerals, and rubber strap. Regardless, I’m super stoked to have this in my grubby little hands. |

You’ve got yourself a fine watch sir!! Mine is the titanium version of the 8500. They’re excellent. You won’t be disappointed. Congratulations!

Big congrats, man! Thanks for sharing your backstory, as well. Glad you and wifey made it through and you were able to bring things back full circle.
Really like your PO. The orange numerals are killer! |

Original 2500 is the best!!! I bought 2 when they came out.......both with 'Shark Cage' mesh bracelets. One with orange numerals, the other, just standard numerals (which is the only way the watch came from omega if you wanted the mesh bracelet, both in 42 and 45.5). Since I was buying 2 watches, the AD switched a mesh bracelet from the standard PO 2500 so my son could have the same bracelet.

I love my PO 8500. My most accurate and reliable mechanical watch ever.

Congrats, I've been eyeing an 8500 42 mm PO. It would fill the dive watch sized void in my heart :D
