This is the greatest human feat ever. If you had told someone one hundred years ago we would be able to send a man to the moon in 1969 they would have put you away. Amazing.

it always irritates me when people go down the conspiracy theory route, its a total insult, and they say it like they are so sure and its all so obvious,

Look up when Aldrin got harassed a few years ago by someone calling him a liar to his face, a right hook sorted it.

True, quite useless apart from:
Artificial limbs, memory foam, satellite tv, laptops, LEDs, Sat nav, cordless vacuums, CAT scans, and maybe about 100 other things!
Don’t forget “We choose to go to the moon... not because they are easy but because they are hard.”

And to think in the context of the computers back then... mind boggling, we have more available storage in our phones nowadays than these guys had, supporting them, as they climbed into a sardine cane on top of a rocket..

I watched the Apollo 11 documentary last night on CNN, its producer. All archival news, NASA, and personal film from the event with no narrator. If it doesn’t give you goosebumps you need to check your pulse.
Certainly Humanity’s Greatest Feat.

Not at all-only logic! I prefer to donate than to pay taxes for stupid things like military, space programs, agricultural subventions and burocracy!

I think I wrote this before, but my grandmother was alive for both the Wright Brothers first flight and the landing on the moon as well as the space shuttle first flight.

I get your concern, but most of the world's technological advances probably came from an offshoot of war and military weapons and military strategies for war.

That's just the way we seem to be built. We could have peace on earth and everyone fed and medically looked after but we don't and probably never will.

We are an unevolved warlike species.

) Maybe they should take care of themselves. How is it our responsibility ?

) The US has spent more to help the poor than any other country in the world, quite possibly more than all others combined. When is it enough ?

Just some thoughts ...............................................

As a 6 year old in New Zealand, I thought I was watching the moon landing live on TV.
Only discovered a few days ago that we were all actually watching a tape that had been flown over from Sydney to Wellington by the Air Force within hours of the event.

I was lucky enough to spend the weekend with most of the remaining Apollo project astronauts at the Explorers Club weekend in NYC this past March. What a privilege!
