Edit: The term "quartz crisis" could more accurately be described as "the time period where Japanese watchmaking dominated." The end of the "quartz crisis" for Switzerland was the beginning of a "crisis" for Japan.
Sadly and ironically both the Grand Seiko and King Seiko lines fell victim to the quartz crisis, too, with GS closing down for many years and KS apparently forever (apart from one reissue in 2000) around the mid 1970s. Both easily rivalled Rolex in terms of quality and engineering at their peak.
