Help with stem release on 1947 oyster precision

Can anyone help confirm how to release the stem of the movement in a 1947 Oyster Precision?

See photo attached. I believe it is the screw marked.

Any information on how to safely remove the stem most welcome.

My standard approach is to loosen the screw a turn and try to remove the stem (one turn is rarely enough, but it's a conservative start). If it doesn't come out, I do another half turn, and repeat. You don't want to over-loosen the screw or you will create problems for yourself.
