The Explorer is a time only SPORTS watch. It doesn’t make sense in anything larger than 36mm.

If you can get an OP on demand then do. Post pictures.

If you think 36mm Explorer is a better 'value' than a 36/41mm OP coloured dial then suggest you check the resale market.
OP is a sports watch? Or a dress watch? I can see them being both, but more a dressier one.

The EXP 1 36 secondary market price will be higher than the OP 36 colored dials, for sure.

39 is the sweet spot. 36 has some of my favorite references. EVERYTIME I try on, even ADs tell me it’s too small. I have 7 inch wrist.

All a matter of perspective. Your not wrong, nor am I.

Looks great but too small for me. I believe they will introduce a 40mm version in a year or two.

It’s as big as some of my smaller watches including my vintage Rolex Air King which I think is probably 34mm. I have a 7 inch wrist, I wear DSSD, Panerai 44mm and even a giant GShock so to me the 36mm Explorer looks great!? Just my opinion!

My wrist is 6,5 inches, nevertheless I sold my Exp1 it because the size in 36mm felt small to me

Nice watch, 36mm is ideal. I’m keeping my Mk1, but yours looks great. Enjoy

Thank you. It was a birthday present from my wife many years ago. Still has the super thick crystal of that era.

Doubtful ............

The Explorer 36, especially the TT version, will probably be readily available on the pre-owned market at a reasonable price due to the lack of box and papers,

because rest home employees will remove them before the CORONER arrives.

Honestly I’d say the OP is probably a little more bang for the buck but I think the Explorer gives it a run for its money simply because it has a sports lineage. To everyone hating on 36mm I challenge you to wear one for a few months. I used to think I loved nuggets watches but after wearing my OP36 for the last 6 months I don’t like wearing anything above 41mm

I owned an Explorer 39mm for about 3 years some time ago. I really liked the watch, and would like to have it again. One of the "issues" i had with it was that the minutes hand seemed to be short for the size of the dial. I know this is like splitting hairs, however I don't know if the 39mm had longer hands than the 36mm. Sometimes, the dial looked like having little hands on large dial. Great watch though. I would buy it again.

It costs 900 USD less? Yes, but is a generic watch with a Rolex crown, just it, when you buy a Explorer you buy all the history attached to it.

The hands, dial and clasp are not the same anyway...

Tell me, what model do you think the Explorer is inspired from?
Hint: a generic Rolex watch..

This. Exp is an OP with a different dial configuration anyways.

Yep. The Explorer, as much as I love it, was created solely by marketing to commemorate and to profit off the hype of the Everest climbs.

Even with that said, the Explorer is still a great watch. Even if it does not have the history of the OP.

The Explorer is a great value. Rolex uses it to test its latest sport tech (in the past: paraflex shock absorber, parachrome hairspring, and now the new formulation of lume) It receives all the benefits of sports line like an extremely legible dial, both in the day and at night (thanks to the Mercedes hands and dot seconds hand). Unlike the OP, there is no confusing the hour and minutes hand under the very reflective crystal. It’s also great to know that in its latest size that movement is not much smaller than the case (the same movement is in the 41mm no date Sub). Just my 2 cents and subject to verification...
