SubC bezel problem?

Just noticed that bezel on my SubC is turning both clockwise and anti clockwise. Thought that it was meant to turn one way only? Bezel itself seems okay otherwise. Some sort of spring failure?

Common issue on earlier ceramic sub bezels, there's four springs underneath, three with a ball and one with a ratchet like thingy that makes it click counter clockwise but blocks it from going clockwise. These tend to wear down over time with use and then you can just turn it either way. It is a quick fix for any watchmaker with access to Rolex parts

Many thanks for the info - thankfully not a huge issue at this time. Presumably it does not compromise the security of the bezel to the watch?

Nope, the bezel is held on by a hytrel washer

So is this an issue of wear on all ceramic subs or just.earlir models?

The part that is prone to wear and tear was updated quite early, it looks the same but they used a stronger alloy.

Stupid q but are the gold subc made out of steel too or gold? Gold would seem to be too soft.

I don't know what it is made of exactly, but they are all the same for Gold and steel watches alike.

Unless folks are diving w/o modern equipment, a bi-directional rotating bezel is a nice feature to me ;)
