The dreaded nick of the 5168g

No way to avoid these scratches and nicks. Trying to not let this discourage me from wearing it. But for anyone sensitive to this, these are definitely not the models to have!

Ouch! But, never fear, you are now approaching watch nirvana. That being the ability to wear the watch with out a second thought or stress about damaging it. I have this with my older watches and love it. :)

Keep adding scratches. One is heartbreaking. One hundred is magical.

One has hypothesized how fat this Ninja is. Now I have an idea. At least 500lbs and perhaps 200lbs is from eating kittens.

Not a bad person, just not a cat person. Or maybe precisely a cat person (nom nom nom), if you know what i mean.

Scratches on these watches are a living nightmare, I just don’t buy them anymore. Recently got rid of my 5990. Don’t let statements like build character , or you get used to it , or when you send it to service they can get rid of them guide you on this.
Every time you see a scratch on these bezels it kills me , true watches are meant to be worn and is inevitable to show signs of wear but you are not aware of them as much as you are in these ones , because they’re in your face every time you see the time .

I can handle a few marks on my bezel, but not this many, it's why I wear mine in rotation and usually when I can control my surroundings.

This has only been worn less then probably 20 times or so... I don't even know where that nick occurred--- I'm suspecting maybe one of my dogs collars... I'm sure the 5167 is harder to scratch than the pm but either way I can't see how these don't get scratched, so yes if you own it and wear it, I don't think there's any amount of carefulness that will prevent this.

I agree. Funnily, as I'm very cautious with my more scratch sensitive pieces, especially my 15400, whenever I see a scratch and I don't know how it happened, that actually makes me feel a bit better, as if it were inevitable anyway.

Now you can wear it freely and get PP to polish it once it becomes too much, it's got 2/3 polishes in it at least.

Heart breaking to look at. Can that be filled in or fixed in some other way?

Enjoy it. When service time comes if you do choose to get it refreshed a bit it will look just like new. Rather that than sitting in safe all day.

How so? The watch has a deep nick at 7:30 on the outer edge of the bezel, and what appears to be a scratch at 6:30 on the bezel.

I see a lot more than just the nick and scratch at 7:30 and 6:30...take a look at the small ding at 3:00 and the scratches all over the 10:00 area. This watch has definitely been through a lot. Watches in general will scratch no matter what, but this version is white gold and will scratch easier than the SS Aquanauts. This has nothing to do with the design of the watch...just how it is worn especially when a “sports watch” is made of from a soft metal like 18k white gold.
