1675 serial number

I have gmt with serial # 2,97xxxx... with what I've read it could be 71 or 72.
Anybody know what year it would be ? Does what year make much difference in value? Thanks for any reply…

The early 70s seem to be a bit of a mystery. Suggest checking the reference section for a sticky post titled,

Actually, if you go by case back date numbers, it should be late 1970 or early 1971.

Too bad it isn't a 1972, I heard they are all the rage right now!!!

jacek has a 1675 for sale with a 2.8 serial, the case back stamped 72.
should I have AD take the case back off to check date ? that would make my 2.9 newer.... do case backs get switched around.?

As I understand it, your original post is about as accurate as you're going to get with the serial #. Caseback stamp is key...

I'm sure they do get mixed up.
