We worked down some of the new steel on one lug to get a feel for what may need a bit more welding. We can already begin to see the extra thickness we’ve added to this lug. A few more rounds of light filling and we can move onto the other 3 lugs.

When done one will not be able to differentiate the newly added 316L from the original.

Wow, very impressive work!! It is nice to see outstanding craftmanship and pieces being repaired instead of replaced. When my wife lived in Florence, they were setting up schools to pass on the traditional Italian handwork skills so that they would not be lost to time.

Adventures in Band Repair (B4/After photos)

Still a lot more work but this lug is starting to shape. For a nice wide chamfer on a 1961 PCG GMT we really do need every bit of this new steel to cut it correctly. The new sharp edge allows us to make a nice clean tapering bevel on our lapping machine.

Things are really moving along. The new steel blends in like it should. Now we have enough steel for nice wide PCG chamfers. Still some more detail work needed but soon we can get into some the finish work and post some after shots.

Still a little ways to go but with the new steel we can now cut the wider chamfer. After checking with the client we will go a bit wider. Plenty of steel to work with at this point.

Are you guys working with titanium watches like the Pelagos? Not looking for laser welding but a polish due to some nicks.

Lol. No clue. A dealer picked it up and asked us to restore. Great photo op for us!

Really looks more like technician error more than curb rash. The Crevoisier belt can be a technicians friend or enemy if not used correctly.

Shout out to Mike at Rolliworks. I'm one of the lucky M - series 116710LN owners that had the broken clasp pivot issues. Mike welded them back in place and did a fantastic job. Not only did he repair the clasp but he took the time to fully refinish it. Great communication, fast shipping and excellent service. Thanks Mike!

This what I call "computer rash". I see it quite often with people that work at a computer all day. It's always on the non-dominant hand, which for most is the left hand, the one you wear your watch on. While using a mouse with the right hand, the left arm lays on the desk. Unknowingly , the watch gets dragged back and forth all day, basically sanding the band down over time. If you notice, it's always on the 12 o'clock side of the band, about halfway down to the clasp area. It looks as if a file was taken to the band. I've seen two-tone Subs worn clear through the links to the pins many times. If you sit at a computer all day, do your watch a favor a take it off.

I’m really happy to see this kind of work done on this side of the pond. I know you guys were struggling with customs issues with your Canadian customers; is that still an issue today?

The pics and workmanship are all top notch by the way.

No. We learned the issues we were having are exclusively with fedex and their duty collections dept. Since moving to all other carries all the issues have cleared up. All one needs to remember is to declare its a repair item and note its a temporary import. This will be import to avoid import duty on its return trip.

Getting ready to ship my 2001 Platinum Yacht-Master off to Rolliworks tomorrow. Wanted to shoot some pics of it before it left to show the current condition. This is after nearly 6 years of daily wear with a very active/brutal lifestyle. The first pic was taken the day that I bought it, 2/27/14. Feeling anxious to get it back already, and it hasn't even left my possession! I will come back and post some after pics once they work their magic!

Forgot to mention...I'm sending it in for a full service, refinish, and bracelet stretch repair. I know, I know...some think it's sacrilege to polish it. This is a watch that I never intend on giving up though, and I like it to shine!
