Timeless and perfect design. Some 40 or something years later and they could easily be sold as new today.

Ridiculous condition as well my friend.

Ha... that really is an expression in polar opposites.
  • Chronograph vs time-only
  • No-date vs date
  • Mass-produced vs hand-finished
  • Sport vs dress (sort-of)
  • White vs black (or blue?)
  • Brushed vs polished features
  • Insert bezel vs solid
  • Acrylic vs sapphire
  • Big crown vs small
  • Stamped clasp vs deployant
  • Solid case back vs open

Well done!

ha! thank you and yes some interesting contrasts among these two. The nautilus pictured above is a 3700 so it has a solid caseback with the original JLC movement beating inside. Best.

That's an excellent movement. Knowing it's a 3700 you could also say 38mm vs 42mm to make up for the one I missed, or sunburst dial vs Venetian.

Enjoy them both and wear them often.

Saying a vintage Daytona was not Hand finished is incorrect in my Eyes,This was when real craftsman worked at Rolex.

I was referring to hand-finished movements more than the cases. Yes, the old cases were hand-finished on 4-digits but nowhere near the time or level of a Patek. Movements aren't even close in that regard.

I agree that the old stuff had far more hands-on work involved than today's watches. I just can't put Rolex anywhere near Patek in terms of man hours spent in personal labor. It was a mass-produced watch back then as it is today.

I’m not a fan of modern Daytona’s, but the vintage are amazing, especially the 6238. That’s a grail.

Thank you for the kind words. They are among my favorite watches in my modest collection and enjoy them very much. They are quite different in many ways in terms of their history, design, purpose and others but find that they compliment each other very well.
