The blue from the advanced research will fit, and is still orderable if you are lucky.

How would you order it? I went into my AD today and they said i could only get it if I had an Advanced Research 5650.

Same here. Blue strap was not an option. I was able to order an extra black strap and the brown one from the 5164r.

i am thinking of getting the blue strap from the advanced research for the 5164R. aside from ordering issues - which i think can be overcome - would it fit with the brownish dial? there is the blue spot for the day/night indicator though....opinions please!

Yes it will, it is a pretty dark blue in normal light, like the brown is dark, so both are quite similar to the black.

My AD got me a free extra blue rubber strap with my 5168g but was unable to get the khaki 5168 green strap. They mentioned Patek would not supply it to me.

Only the 5650 fits the 5164

But the 5168 fits the 5968

Thankfully I have been lucky enough to aquire all strap options on rubber, with or without the correct watches

5650 blue will fit the 5167 - but as it is thicker it won't fit 100% perfectly ! A friend of mine did it and can live with the look !

If somebody needs a blue 5650 strap, i can probably help !

I can't say anything about the dial/strap combo, but what I can say is that, after seeing a number of rose gold pieces on dark blue straps I do think that metal/strap combo looks great.
