I definitely like the 36mm DJ and Day-Date models, though that's not to say I don't like their larger siblings. Matter of preference but I would have no problem wearing them with a little over 7 inch wrist.

How often do you see a man wearing a watch that is clearly too big (pre covid)? For me taking public transport and working in a large downtown office building it was multiple men every day.

In contrast, how often do you see a man wearing a watch that is clearly too small? For me it is almost never.

Overly large watches are far more common than watches that are too small. If you prefer 40 over 36 thats fine, but if your watch is "the wrong size" then 99% of the time its because its too big not too small.
