Did it! Code 11.59 Purple
Good day WatchFriends!
I did! I got the Code 11.59 in purple and I couldn’t be any happier. I really appreciate everyone’s input, ideas, and thoughts on this watch (even the ones that hate it). I know it is a polarizing watch. I know there is definitely better and more intricate mechanisms to purchase. I know (trust me) that this is a heavy dollar amount to throw for a time only watch. I know I will take a killing in value. But the more time I spent with it at the Boutique, the more I wore it, and the more I looked at it, I fell in love. I said , “F&ck it! I love the watch.” What does it feel to “me” wearing Code 11.59? It is my FIRST brand new Audemars Piguet! The watch has great presence. It feels thick, I won’t lie about it but I love it. I personally love the dial. Yes, I know. I really do plus the purple is something unique and special to me. It does make me smile every time I look at the dial. The case is out of this world. AP’s red gold has to be the best in the business. It is not loud, clean and crisp. The case is the highlight with the numerous satin and brush finishes Outstanding! Something that also does not get a lot of press is the buckle. It is gorgeous following the flow of the case in wonderful symmetry. Leather strap is well made with gator on both sides. On the movement, I definitely will not claim to know much on finishes but it looks terrific. I have looked at it a lot on the 10X loupe and everything is perfect. Probably a lot of machine finish. I spent a lot of time looking at the hands, the shape of them and the dial numbers. Just in awe. Because I get a lot of mirroring from the lacquered purple dial, the side of the finished hands are beautifully brushed and the underside of the dial hands also seemed brushed. Really impressive since the hands are so thin. Legibility can be an issue depending on the light but much better than I expected from the pictures and press reviews. I like how the dial can give a person the feeling of a “simple” watch but while they see the face of the dial, I can look down and get the view of the case. The octagonal case is really prevalent and bonds the personally of the Code. Buying experience? The Geneva Boutique treated me fantastic! As you might remember, I was there with my wife previously but I did not commit on it on the spot. I needed to think about it again and again. I compared it to JLC, VC, and looked at other Pateks. But I kept coming back to the Code. Once I did, I made an appointment for a Friday 3pm pickup. The place was made for me that day. : ) I got the typical pleasantries and my sales consultant was just great. A Frenchman from Burgundy with a love for wine and watches. Bless him. He ordered a brand new Code and it was in the box and everything waiting for me. He opened the box with the same enthusiasm I had on getting on my wrist. Champagne and the Code was a great fit. The Director stopped by to say hello, got an espresso and we chatted for a good 15 mins about watches, the brand, and all the amazing products. She told me that they would fix a trip for me to visit the factory, get a tour and see how the Codes are getting made. We talked about taking my small boys to the upcoming hotel in 2021, skiing, visiting the museum, and just “being part of the family”. Once the watch on my wrist, she said “Welcome to the AP family”. My guy gave me a beautiful two wine bottle set from Le Caveau De Bacchus in Geneva – AP branded, a watch pouch and cool interesting black strap when I get bored of the purple one. And that made the experience purchasing at the Boutique Geneva 100x better than just getting the watch by mail. Thanks for reading and now for some pictures. I tried my best to get the best of angles with my simple iPhone cam and attaching my 5X loupe. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

CONGRATULATIONS! The purple looks amazing. I've been looking at the smoked blue / RG for myself but this might have tipped me into purple.
I love it!

Does anyone know where I can get one of those wine crates? I would love to find one for sale somewhere. |

This watch isn't for me, but really great that you clearly love it so much and it's gone to a good and appreciative owner. Also great to hear that you were so well treated at Geneva. A positive buying experience really does make a difference, I think, to how you view the watch afterwards, and does make you feel valued and a part of the AP 'family'. So much better than buying a watch through the post!

Congrats. I love the new iterations of the CODE. Perhaps your love of wine inspired your color choice.
Do us a favor... When you put the fabric strap on, please upload some pics. I believe that will change the look quite a bit and would love to see it. Enjoy it! |

Congrats! I'm currently torn between the 1159 blue time only and a Patek annual calendar. Love your review and congrats again!
BTW - were you provided any discounts on the watch or extra band? And, please do post pics with the other band! Love it. |
