Is panerai really this cold now?
While I was picking up my new bronze 671, I saw 716 Mare Nostrum, 685 and 687 3 Days Acciaio in the showcase, they are such nice looking pieces! Wondering is panerai really this cold now?

Suppose it depends on which region you're in. Out of interest, were there any of the newly released green dials?

I've seen all three available at the LA boutique. There's a 687 sitting on display at my local Tourneau for at least 4 weeks now...

The 687 is my new favourite panerai of all time. It's a thing of beauty. The dial, those hands, and the white font. Very special.

Congrats on the 671!!
I think it's tough to make a general comment on the state of Panerai based on one AD... That being said, the Mare is gorgeous, though some say over-priced for the movement....685 & 687 are collector pieces. Those just "wanting a Panerai" will look elsewhere, IMHO. |

I assume a lot may have to do with the AD and the willingness to deal. Many consumers now expect a significant discount and a lot of AD's will hold certain pieces and only go full retail for a walk in. No doubt Panerai is soft now but it is also a good time as a buyer, if you are not going to flip.

Congratulations, it's a beauty
We only have a boutique here in Toronto and the other AD doesn't discount, at least to me |

What a beautiful watch!
I am also thinking that they have released too many of those Special Editions/Limited Editions watches in the last few years with each issue in the vicinity of 500-1000 units. They should have cut it down to 50-100 units and then in that way the market won't be saturated with these SE/LEs and it will drive demands up again. Also there are too many releases of regular series that look similar and that does confuses customer and will drive them away. With Rolexes people know to go for the Submariner or the Sea Dweller or the Daytona. With AP you have the ROO series and with Patek you have the Nautilus series (5711, 5712 & 5990...etc). With Panerai new comers don't know which series to go for as they don't have a well sought after bread and butter series in the brand anymore. This is what they have to change. They have to scale back on new releases and create hype in a few of their back to basic bread and butter models and then the brand will be hot again. |

Yes. I’ve seen some insane prices on used pieces. I don’t want to even say them. I’ve been offered a 687 at a great price.
So the pieces are sitting. That should tell you something 372’s retail for 10k, secondary market <5k. :-(

There are a few pieces that I like, but as @mfer notes, the used market is still too high. My 2 cents. |

I don’t know how to run a watch company but to me, Panerai is taking something that was unique and special and diluting it. Maybe it is just natural evolution of a publicly traded watch company. I’m not throwing stones at Panerai; just posting my observations.

Love the brand but I definitely had less interest when I wanted to sell them once I got bored over the past 2 years. Difficulty in moving them definitely played a hand in me owning zero Panerai(s) right now.

Looking at the soft used market for Panerai and I’m glad that two of mine are LE and quite exclusive. Congrats on the 671, OP

685 and 687 looks fantastic , but the 30m WR is the ultimate buzz killer. In a radiomir case with a different bezel- I don't see why this has anything to do with the lowered WR.
Yea in general Panerai is a slow mover these days. Lots of AD and TD has stock for discount. Great time to buy if you are a true fan!!! |

I can’t believe there’s three in Paris and there’s not been one in the UK. That’s absolutely nuts.
