1680 Rotor Feel and noise
Guru's, I need an assist.
I pulled my 1680 out of my safe deposit box just before Thanksgiving. It had been sitting for about 18 months. The watch was last serviced in 2010. I noticed when initially setting it, and giving it a manual wind, I thought it felt a bit stiff. (In comparison to my 1675 & 1016) I chalked up to being dormant for the last year+. Fast forward to the last few weeks:
I know it probably needs serviced, but I am curious as the cause of this. Thanks for education! |

Thanks for the quick follow up. Is this damaging other components, or is it pretty much isolated to the axel/rotor assembly? Is this transmitting wear and tear down into the auto winding mechanism?

Its always the concern that loose material from the excessive wear and friction will contaminate jewels and pivots. It becomes the abrasive material needed to grind down other components
